Updated x1: Galloway Township seeks BIDS for Fleet Repair and Maintenance Services

UPDATED: On March 19th Galloway Township accepted bids for Fleet Maintenance Services from four (4) different companies. According to the Bid Sheet released by the Township (see below) Galloway Auto & Tire, Regional Tire Service, Cleggs Garage, and Mikes Truck Center.

Of those Bids, between percentage and rate of labor, Galloway Auto & Tire as well as Regional Tire Service appears to comparable low rates for the Township.

Original Story (Feb 27th) The Township of Galloway is seeking BIDS for Fleet Maintenance Services. The Township previously had contracts with several companies before partially bringing the services in-house.

According to the BID packet, sealed bids will be received by the Township of Galloway on WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19, 2014 AT 11:00 AM in the Office of the Township Clerk, 300 East Jimmie Leeds Road, Galloway, New Jersey 08205, at which time and place bids will be opened and read in public.

The BID included the fact that The "Township of Galloway is currently accepting proposals for repairs of passenger cars, light trucks. Vehicles requiring service include police patrol vehicles, administrative vehicles, and public works trucks up to 2500 series."

The Township is also accepting proposals for "repairs of medium/heavy trucks and special heavy equipment. Trucks/equipment requiring service includes public works trucks and special heavy equipment."

The Township has hired several Township employees as mechanics, including a supervisor for the Fleet Maintenance. It is unclear the fate of those employees with the possibility of this Bid going to an outside agency.

Due to the fact that the township does not have a surplus of vehicles, it will be required that all police vehicles serviced be completed without appointment on the same day and as quickly as possible. Only in the event of a major repair, will the service provider be allowed more time. The service provider must have the facilities available and the ability to provide “Priority Service” to repair our patrol fleet on the street.
Police vehicles are being used continuously and the service provider must have regular business hours six (6) days per week. Service providers must also be a licensed New Jersey State Inspection Agency and possess the equipment necessary to complete such inspections.
The service provider must be able to complete minor repairs of all other City owned vehicles within 24 hours and all major repairs within 48 hours of delivery. Enclosed storage must be available for repairs that will take longer than one business day.
To minimize travel time for the dropping off and picking up of police vehicles, the vendor’s repair facility must be within 20 miles the Township of Galloway.

Vendors are required to contact Township Fleet Manager with estimates prior to starting work. All parts must be OEM approved.
