Galloway Man Arrested After Search Warrant Executed; Drugs, Cash, Gun Seized

On April 29, 2016 at approximately 10:30 am, Galloway Township Police executed a search warrant at a residence on the 300 block of S. Zenia Avenue. 

The search warrant was a result of a two-week long cooperative investigation between Egg Harbor Township and Galloway Township Detectives. 

Police recovered during the search over a pound of marijuana, $1,179 in cash and a .38 Special handgun. Ean Parsons, 24, of Galloway, was arrested by Detective Jason Kiamos and charged with Possession of CDS, Distribution of CDS, Possession of a Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon while conducting a CDS offense.

Galloway Police Officer Utilizes Epi-Pen to Save Child

On April 24, 2016 at 4:10 p.m., Galloway Police Sgt. Vincent Ceci responded with Galloway EMS and Atlanticare Paramedics to the Yang Ji Presbyterian Church located at 437 S. Pitney Road for a 13-year-old male suffering from an allergic reaction.

Upon arrival Sgt. Ceci was advised that the child had inadvertently ingested peanut butter which he is highly allergic to.  The child was in severe respiratory distress and Sgt. Ceci, a certified EMT, recognized that the child was suffering from anaphylaxis.  He administered epinephrine using an Epi-Pen auto-injector and the child’s condition improved shortly thereafter.  The child was transported to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, Mainland Campus, for evaluation.

Philadelphia Man Indicted in 2015 Expressway Crash that Killed Passenger

MAYS LANDING – A Philadelphia man was indicted yesterday in connection with the one-vehicle crash last year on the Atlantic City Expressway in Egg Harbor Township that killed his passenger, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
Yesterday, April 19, 2016, an Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted Rashad E. Caswell, 28, of the 600 block of Mays Place, Philadelphia, PA, of Aggravated Manslaughter for recklessly causing a death under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to human life—a crime of the 1st degree, and for Causing Death While Driving While Suspended or Unlicensed—a 3rd degree crime.

Egg Harbor City Man Guilty of Reckless Manslaughter

MAYS LANDING – An Egg Harbor City man pled guilty to reckless manslaughter today in connection with the death last year of an Absecon man, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
On Sunday, Feb. 15, 2015, at approximately 9:49 p.m., Pleasantville Police responded with emergency medical responders to an 800 block North Main Street business parking lot. Upon arrival, officers found Kyle Athill, 30, of Absecon, NJ, lying unconscious on the ground.
Athill was transported to the AtlantiCare Medical Center—City Division, with a life-threatening head injury.
As a result of a two-day investigation by the Pleasantville Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, Zachariah Mays, then 24, of the 100 block of New York Avenue, Egg Harbor City, was arrested on Feb. 17th, charged with aggravated assault, for striking Athill and causing him head trauma.

Police Identify Newtonville Man Killed in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY – The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is releasing additional information regarding the Newtonville man found last month in Atlantic City—the victim of a shooting, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
Atlantic City Police responded to Hobart Avenue for a Shotspotter Gunshot Detection and Location activation at 1:59 a.m. on Tuesday, March 29, 2016. Upon arrival, police found a male victim, the apparent victim of gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center—City Division.
The victim, Emmanuell C. Fisher, 25, of 6th Road, Newtonville, NJ, was pronounced dead at the hospital at 11:49 a.m.

Vehicle Overturned; One Injured in Motor Vehicle Accident on Race Track Road

On April 21, 2016 Galloway Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident with an overturned vehicle in the area of Race Track Road and Aloe Street. 
According to Police, David Z. Sanchez, 19, of Galloway, was traveling southbound on Racetrack Rd in a 2015 Honda Civic when a 2004 GMC Envoy, operated by Michael L. Falls, pulled out in front of him from the stop sign on Aloe Street westbound.
Falls vehicle overturned as a result of the collision.  Falls’ passenger, Laporsha S. Wiggins, 19, of Galloway, was transported to Atlantic Regional Medical Center, Mainland Division for non life threatening/minor injuries.

Stockton University Opens New Get FIT Trail

Galloway, N.J. – A new ¼ mile fitness trail with 10 stations for stretching and strength training loops through a scenic stretch of Stockton University’s Pinelands campus. The trail, which opened this week, is available to the public for exercise and recreation.

For students in the School of Health Sciences, the trail offers more than just an exercise opportunity. They are working with individuals with developmental disabilities to help them lead healthy lifestyles.

Alysia Mastrangelo, professor of Physical Therapy, Joan Perks, associate professor of Nursing, and Mary Kientz, associate professor of Occupational Therapy, developed Get FIT @ Stockton, an exercise and nutrition program that helps individuals with developmental disabilities live healthier lives. The program, now in its third year, is a partnership between Stockton, Family Resource Network (FRN) and The Arc of Atlantic County.

Galloway Man Indicted for Murder of Mays Landing Man in 2015

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – Two men were indicted yesterday for crimes committed in connection with the November 2015 shooting death in Hamilton Township of a Mays Landing man, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
In response to a 9-1-1 call received at 7:29 p.m. on Monday, November 9, 2015, Hamilton Township Police, Township of Hamilton Rescue personnel, and AtlantiCare paramedics responded to a home on the 5900 block of Elmhurst Drive, Mays Landing. Upon arrival, police found Michael Black, 31, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Black was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center—City Division, where he was later declared dead.

Driver Arrested After Single Motor Vehicle Accident in Absecon

On April 7th, 2016 at approximately 4:40 AM, Absecon Police responded westbound on Absecon Boulevard and Turner Avenue for a single car motor vehicle accident. 

While en route police communications advised responding units the vehicle was overturned and in the roadway. 

Upon patrols arrival the driver later identified as, Bianca Pizarro-Chicas was still inside the vehicle with a traffic light standard down across the roadway. Officers with the assistance of the witness to the accident were able to remove Ms. Pizarro-Chicas from the vehicle.

Absegami Senior Leo Capone Finds and Rescues Missing Woman

Antonia Vocino, who was reported missing earlier this morning, has been located. She and her dog are both in good health. 

The Galloway Police Department would like to recognize and thank Mr. Leo Capone, a senior in Absegami High School in the senior option program who, on his way from school to work, observed Mrs. Vocino trapped in the 2nd floor of an abandoned home banging on the window for help. 

Mr. Capone’s quick reaction to call 9-1-1 assisted the police department in locating Mrs. Vocino and having her evaluated by medical personnel.

Two Injured After Head On Collision on Route 9 in Galloway

On April 1, 2016 at 2:30 a.m., Galloway Township Police responded to a head on motor vehicle accident in the area of Route 9 and Great Creek Rd.  
According to Police the collision occurred when Cornelius C. Coyle, 71, of Galloway, was traveling southbound on Route 9 in a 2006 Hyundai Elantra, when a 2014 Kia Soul, traveling northbound on Route 9, operated by Robert L. Parker 3rd ,22 of West Creek, NJ, crossed over the center line and struck Coyle’s vehicle head on.
