Absecon Police Arrest Burglary Suspect; Charges Include Theft and Mischief

The Absecon Police Department arrested William Ricks, age 29 of Pleasantville for burglary after he entered an acquaintances residence in Oyster Bay Condominiums on August 30, 2014. 
The police department was dispatched around 1:00 PM when the victim, a 36 year old female was notified that a person was attempting to gain entry into the residence. 
Upon the police arrival Ricks advised the officers he was at the home to retrieve belongings and he was unable to retrieve his belongings because no one was home. 

Sayreville Woman Arrested for Assault on Police and Others

The Absecon Police Department arrested a 24-year-old female from Sayreville on August 30, 2014 at approximately 10:10 AM after she contacted a friend for a ride home after a night out in Atlantic City. 
Shannon E. Walsh was a passenger in a vehicle operated by Caitlin Whittet, age 26 of Ocean Twp., Monmouth County. Walsh began assaulting Whittet after they left Atlantic City as she was operating the vehicle with her 3 year old son was in the vehicle. Whittet was able to call 911 and notify Absecon Police of the assault. 

Two Atlantic County Men Sentenced in the 2010 Murder of Egg Harbor City Mother

MAYS LANDING – Two Atlantic County men were sentenced today for their roles in the 2010 murder of an Egg Harbor City mother of two, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
Rafael J, Olmo, 31, of the 400 block of Philadelphia Avenue, Egg Harbor City, NJ, and Mario J. Adams, 32, of the 1100 block of Applefield Loop, Hammonton, NJ, were sentenced today to imprisonment in New Jersey State prison for the murder of Deanna Downs, 29 years old. Downs was found shot dead behind her residence at Harbor City Apartments, Atlantic Avenue, Egg Harbor City, in October 2010.

Absecon Police Investigating Attempted Robbery of Female Employee of Card Smart Cards

The Absecon Police Department is investigating an attempted robbery that occurred on August 29, 2014 at approximately at 8:20 PM. 
A 26-year-old female employee of Card Smart Cards located on the White Horse Pike in the Absecon Center was closing up the store and was taking out the trash when she was attacked by two black males approximately 6 feet tall wearing dark clothing, short hair and no facial hair in the rear parking lot. 

Multiple Car Crash Leaves Several Teens Injured Including One in Critical Condition

On 8/30/14 at 8:42am, Township of Hamilton Police responded to Rt. 40 at mile post 43.7 for a serious motor vehicle crash involving three vehicles.

Investigation revealed a 2008 Chevy Silverado driven by Nicholas Gareffi, age 39, of Vineland, was traveling eastbound on Rt. 40 when it crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The Chevy struck a westbound 2007 Mitsubishi box truck driven by Darrel Jacobs, age 48, of Vineland. The Chevy then struck a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta, occupied by five people, which was traveling westbound behind the box truck, causing it to spin off the roadway into the front yard of a nearby residence.

Estell Manor Woman Sentenced to 9-years in Prison for 2008 Fatal Crash

MAYS LANDING – A 52 year-old Estell Manor woman was sentenced today to 9 years in state prison in connection with a 2008 fatal two-car collision that left one woman dead and three others injured, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
On Oct. 31, 2008, New Jersey State Police responded to County Road 557 Milepost 14.6 for a reported two-car motor vehicle accident.
The investigation determined that Diane L. Williams, then 46 years old, of the 100 block of 8th Avenue, Estell Manor, NJ, was driving southbound on County Route 557 in Estell Manor when she struck a guardrail, rebounded back across the double-yellow center line, and collided with a second vehicle moving in the opposite direction. The passenger side of Williams’ vehicle impacted the front-end of the second vehicle.

Egg Harbor City Police Blotter August 12 to August 25, 2014

Egg Harbor City Police have released their Police Blotter for the week of August 12, 2014 to August 25, 2014.  Arrests consist of contempt of court, burglary, and DWI.

Edgar Solorzano, 30, of Egg Harbor City was arrested by Sgt. Matt Landicini for taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s consent on August 12, 2014.

James Krauthause, 67, of Egg Harbor City was arrested by Sgt. Matt Landicini for burglary and defiant trespass on August 13, 2014.

Atlantic City Man Charged with Murder and Felony Possession of a Weapon

MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City man has been charged with murder of a man who was found fatally shot in Atlantic City in January of this year, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
Omar Curry, 24, of the 100 Block of Rhode Island Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ was arrested yesterday in the 800 block of North Virginia Avenue as a result of an investigation conducted by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit in conjunction with the Atlantic City Police Department.

Breaking News: EHC Police Investigating Hit and Run on White Horse Pike

A pedestrian was struck by a motor vehicle at approximately 8:11 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 on the White Horse Pike near Lincoln Park in Egg Harbor City.
Apolinario Coloch-Gonzalez, 28, of Egg Harbor City, suffered significant injuries to his left arm. He was struck by a black, older style pick-up truck with a large trailer believed to be an open top landscape trailer.

Residents Assaulted in Home Invasion Robbery; Absecon Police Investigating

On Tuesday August 26, 2014 at approximately 12:30 a.m, Absecon Police Department was dispatched to Oyster Bay Road for a home invasion robbery in progress. 

The 9-1-1 caller reported that two black males had forced their way into their Oyster Bay Road apartment after the victim opened the front door, in response to the doorbell. 

Once inside, a male described as being a heavy set, black male wearing a tan shirt assaulted the male resident while a second black male entered the apartment. The second male was described as being younger with a thin build wearing an orange shirt. 

Absecon Police Dealing with Increase in Burglaries; Police Still Seek Suspects

On August 24, 2014 at approximately 4:00am the Sunoco Gas & Minimart- 471 White Horse Pike was burglarized. Police found the front of the building had been pried open and entry was made. 
Suspect entered and stole an undetermined amount of money from the register, cigarettes, and a box of Snickers candy bars. The business was closed at the time of the burglary. This case is still under investigation.

Galloway Mayor and Residents Plan to Attend Mondays School Board Meeting Over Tax Increase

After a heated discussion at Tuesday's Council Meeting, the next stop for many taxpayers will be on Monday, August 25th for the Galloway Township School Board Meeting. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the Middle School located at 101 S. Reeds Road.
Resident's planned a protest at the August 19th Council meeting which exceeded the Township's meeting room capacity, leaving many to wait outside and not have a chance for their voice to be heard. 
Mayor Don Purdy, who received notice of the planned protest on August 1st by Galloway Township News, told residents that showed at the meeting he didn't know or plan for the crowd that showed.

Absecon Police Investigating Burglary and Seek Help Identifying Suspect

The Absecon Police Department is investigating a burglary the occurred at approximately 9:00 p.m. on August 22, 2014 at the Shore Points Pools store located at 921White Horse Pike. 
The suspect is seen on video prying open a side door and entering the building after cutting the phone and cable lines outside of the business. Once inside, the suspect cut additional lines and forced open a safe. An undetermined amount of cash was taken.

Atlantic City Man Sentenced to 10-years for Armed Robbery of Pizza Delivery Driver

MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City man was sentenced today for his part in the 2012 armed robbery and assault of a pizza delivery driver in Atlantic City, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
Jamil Ragsdale, now 19, of the 900 block of Magellan Avenue, Atlantic City, was sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey State prison for an armed robbery committed when he was 17 years old.
After midnight on January 16, 2012, Atlantic City Police responded to the Domino’s Pizza Shop on Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City, to investigate the report of an armed robbery. They found delivery driver Muhammed Bilal bleeding from head and face injuries, including a broken nose, and ordered him transported by ambulance to the Atlantic City Medical Center—City Campus.

Egg Harbor Township Police Seek Help in Identifying Suspects in Fraud Case

On August 5, 2014, two individuals produced fraudulent NJ Driver’s Licenses, pay stubs and W2 forms in an attempt to secure a loan for $7000 at a local financial office.

Female Driver Charged with Death by Auto for Fatal Expressway Accident

HAMILTON TOWNSHIP – A Philadelphia woman was arrested yesterday evening, charged with death by auto in connection with a one-vehicle crash on the Atlantic City Expressway that killed two people and injured four others in June of this year, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
On June 20, 2014 at approximately 7:07 a.m., New Jersey State Police responded to milepost 22.7 of the Atlantic City Expressway in Hamilton Township for a single-vehicle fatal crash. A white 1996 Ford F-250 pickup truck driven by Roselyn D. Kornegay, 45, of the 1600 block of Harrison Street, Philadelphia, PA, was traveling westbound on the Expressway when it left the roadway toward the center median, struck a guardrail and overturned.

Kline Construction and Purdy Collision Center to Host Blood Drive For Third Consecutive Year

Kline Construction and Purdy Collision are set to host their 3rd Annual Blood Drive on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 from 6:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Purdy Collision Center.

Aside from providing construction and traffic safety services in New Jersey, Kline Construction’s President Ed Kline enjoys serving his community and has united with the American Red Cross and Galloway’s Mayor and owner of Purdy Collision, Don Purdy, to help increase the blood bank amounts.

Williams S. Borisch, III, 39, of Egg Harbor City was arrested by Det. Remon Soliman for possession of heroin on July 29, 2014.

Galloway Superintendent of Schools Points Finger Back at Township for Latest Tax Increases

On August 13, 2014, Galloway Township Superintendent of Schools Annette C. Giaquinto addressed in an email to members of the School Board and Staff, the upcoming planned protest against the recent tax increases scheduled for August 19, 2014 at the Township Municipal Complex. 

Giaquinto stated in an email to the Board and Staff, "For those of you that live in Galloway (and perhaps others), you may be hearing about a group that is going to the Town Council meeting on Tuesday to complain about tax increases. Apparently, statements have been made indicating that the increases are because of the school district."

Two Pleasantville Men Arrested During Residential Burglary In Absecon

On Tuesday August 12th 2014 at 4:30 pm, the Absecon Police Department received a call from a resident on North Shore Road who claimed that two subjects were attempting to break into his home. 
Upon arrival, police encountered the two males as they were coming from behind the residence. Further investigation revealed that one of the males had property in his possession that had previously been inside the home. The victim was not injured during the incident.

South Jersey Man Pleads Guilty to Molesting Teenage Girl and Child Pornography

TRENTONActing Attorney General John J. Hoffman announced that a South Jersey man pleaded guilty today to charges that he molested a teenage girl while she was sleeping and distributed child pornography on the Internet. The charges stemmed from a child pornography investigation by the New Jersey State Police and the Division of Criminal Justice.

Bernard Cahill, 55, of Gloucester Township (formerly of Folsom), pleaded guilty to second-degree charges of sexual assault and distribution of child pornography before Superior Court Judge Albert J. Garofolo in Atlantic County. 

Impaired Driving Enforcement Crackdown to be Conducted Locally as Part of National Campaign

(Galloway) -- Law enforcement officers from the Galloway Township Police Department will be cracking down on drunk drivers as part of the 2014 Labor Day “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign.  Beginning August 15 and running through September 1, local and state law enforcement officers will conduct sobriety checkpoints and roving patrols, looking for motorists who may be driving while intoxicated.

“Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” is a national campaign designed to raise awareness about the dangers of drinking and driving through high-visibility enforcement and public education tools, including posters, banners and mobile video display signs. Launched across the U.S. in 1999, the program works to combat drunk driving during the busy summer travel season, including the Labor Day holiday period.

Serious Accident on Route 40 Overturns Vehicle; Drivers Sent to Area Hospitals

On August 10, 2014 at approximately 3:20 PM, the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to Route 40 in the area of Pittsburg Avenue for a serious motor vehicle crash involving two vehicles. 
Preliminary investigation determined that a 2010 Scion XD driven by Liliana Jamieson-Finanger, 79 of Buena, was traveling East on Rt. 40. A Hyundai Accent driven by Barbara Wayda, 67 of Egg Harbor Twp., made a u-turn in front of Finanger’s vehicle causing the two vehicles to collide.

Two Men Sentenced to Six Years in Prison for Crash that Killed Teenage Girl While Racing

MAYS LANDING – Two New Jersey men were sentenced yesterday to 6 years in prison for racing on the highway in Egg Harbor City in 2011, and causing a crash that killed a 19-year-old woman, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced today.
On October 23, 2011, at approximately 1:30 a.m., authorities from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the Egg Harbor City Police Department and the Galloway Township Police Department responded to the scene of a one-car motor vehicle accident on Clarks Landing Road, in Egg Harbor City.

Man Charged with Murder In Connection to Woman Remains Found in Woods

MAYS LANDING – A Pleasantville man has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the death of a woman whose remains were found by a hunter in a wooded area of Egg Harbor Township seven (7) months ago, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
On Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at approximately 1:30 p.m., a hunter found human remains in the woods behind the Shore Mall site near Broadway Avenue in Egg Harbor Township. The hunter, who is a municipal police officer in Atlantic County, immediately notified authorities and reported the discovery.

Galloway Residents Plan Protest on Latest Tax Increase That Has Left Several Stunned

Galloway residents who just received their tax bill and further disapprove of the tax increase that has left many paying thousands of dollars more a year, have planned a protest. 

The "Concerned Citizens of Galloway Township" are requesting residents to attend the next Council Meeting at the Municipal Complex scheduled on Tuesday, August 19th at 6:30 p.m. to voice their disapproval. 

The group has stated in their flyer that the "politicians pay more attention to taxpayers coming to meetings than they do to petitions". The group is requesting local taxpayers to attend the meeting and voice their disapproval and show that they are tired of taxation without representation and the Townships budget cuts.

Galloway Ordered to Pay Over $16,000 in Legal Fees After Losing Lawsuit

Galloway Township has now been ordered to pay over $16,000 in legal fees in a lawsuit the Township lost in June 2013.  The fees are to be paid to Walter Luers, Esq., who is the attorney representing the Plaintiff John Paff.

On Tuesday, June 10, 2014, Superior Court Judge Nelson Johnson issued an order against Galloway Township Clerk TC Kay and the Township and ruled in favor of the Plaintiff John Paff.
