Galloway Township Police responded to 1029 calls for service during April 9, 2017 through April 15, 2017.

ARRESTS:
Maurice B. Murray, 56 of Galloway was arrested by Ofc. Ronald Gorneau and charged with DWI on April 14.
Tiffany J. Jackson, 25 of Tuckerton, NJ was arrested by Ofc. Dominic Fabrizio and charged with Possession of CDS and Possession of Hypodermic Needle on April 14.

Police Seize Parts of AR-15 Rifle; Cocaine Seized and Teen Arrested

On April 12, 2017, at 12:32 p.m., Galloway Township Police Department received information that a juvenile resident had obtained parts to assemble a firearm.

After further investigation the juvenile was arrested and police seized all the parts and tools required to assemble a fully functional semi-automatic AR-15 rifle.   Ammunition for the rifle was not located.  

Police also seized hollow point ammunition for a .40 caliber firearm.  A firearm capable of firing this ammunition has not been located at this time.   In addition cocaine was seized.

Galloway Man Drives Himself to Hospital After Being Stabbed; Suspect Arrested


On April 6th, 2017, Galloway Township Police responded to a residence on Patriots Court for the report of a fight.  Upon arrival, it was learned that Freedom Young (29 y/o of Galloway) had been stabbed and drove himself to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Division for treatment. 

He was subsequently transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center - City Division Trauma Center for treatment of his injuries.  The investigation revealed Laquann Anderson (27 y/o of Galloway) had stabbed Young several times during the fight and fled from the residence.

Galloway Police Announce Coffee with a Public Safety Professional

(Galloway Township) – On Tuesday, April 18, 2017 the Galloway Township Police Department, in conjunction with the Oceanville Volunteer Fire Company and the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad will be hosting the first of several “Coffee with a Public Safety Professional” events.  

This event is being held at the Oceanville Fire Company at 186 S. New York Road in Galloway at 10:00am.  Please come out and join us to get to know your local public safety professionals. 

These events will be held at each Galloway Township Fire Company throughout the summer/fall, so check back for dates/times in your area.

Atlantic City Woman Pled Guilty to Theft of Welfare Benefits

MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City woman pled guilty Monday to Theft by Deception, for illegally collecting over $18,000 in welfare benefits, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced today.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Financial Crimes Unit and the Atlantic County Department of Family & Community Development—Division of Fraud Investigations conducted an investigation that led to an indictment by an Atlantic County Grand Jury on July 24, 2014 of Evonda Valentine, now 50-years-old, of the 800 block of North Maryland Avenue, Atlantic City, for Theft by Deception—a 3rd degree crime.

Camden County Man Sentenced to 3-years for Sexual Assault on Minor

MAYS LANDING – A Camden County man was sentenced to prison last week for the sexual assault in 2014 of a Ventnor child, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.
A four-month investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and the Ventnor Police Department, assisted by the Collingswood and Temple University police departments, led to the arrest of Antonio M. Rodriguez, male, then 21- years-old, of the 600 block of Eldridge Avenue, Oaklyn, NJ. 
Rodriguez was charged with the October 2014 sexual assault committed in Ventnor, NJ of a Ventnor child between the ages of 13 and 16, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Knock Out Opioid Abuse Town Hall Meeting Scheduled for April 10th

Absecon, NJ- 4/03/17- Join Together Atlantic County, a county-wide substance misuse prevention coalition, will be co-hosting a Knock Out Opioid Abuse Town Hall with the Atlantic County Opiate Task Force, The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey, Horizon Foundation for New jersey and Stockton University. 
The Atlantic County Town Hall will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 3:30pm- 6pm in Stockton University’s Alton Auditorium.
The Knock Out Opioid Abuse Town Hall series provides information to NJ residents to help them make better decisions for loved ones, and to better understand the link between opioid prescription drug abuse and rising heroin abuse. Members of the community can come out and have their voice heard, and be part of the solution to end opioid abuse in Atlantic County. 
According to the CDC, “Opioids (including prescription opioids and heroin) killed more than 33,000 people in 2015, more than any year on record. Nearly half of all opioid overdose deaths involve a prescription opioid”. The CDC also states that, “The number of people who started to use heroin in the past year is also trending up. Among new heroin users, approximately three out of four report abusing prescription opioids prior to using heroin. The increased availability, lower price, and increased purity of heroin in the US have been identified as possible contributors to rising rates of heroin use”.

Galloway Police Assist in Disrupting Gun and Drugs Trafficking Supply Chain

ATLANTIC COUNTY— A 2-month joint investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit, the Pleasantville Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New Jersey State Police, and the Galloway Township Police Department, with the assistance of additional Federal, State, County, and Municipal law enforcement agencies, culminated this week in the arrests of 16 persons involved in the trafficking of illegal drugs and firearms in the Pleasantville and Egg Harbor City areas, and in disrupting a gun trafficking supply chain originating in southern U. S. states and ending in Atlantic County, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced today.
Beginning at 4:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 30, 2017, Detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the Pleasantville Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the New Jersey State Police, and the Galloway Township Police Department, with assistance from U. S. Homeland Security Investigations, U. S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office, and the Egg Harbor City, Mullica Township, Atlantic City, and Egg Harbor Township Police Departments—armed with arrest and search warrants—arrested 16 individuals and executed 5 search warrants in the Egg Harbor City area, deploying Atlantic County Regional SWAT, Atlantic City Police SWAT, and FBI SWAT units in the search warrant executions.

Two Injured in Three-Car Crash on Pomona Road; Summons Issued

On March 31, 2017 at 7:32 a.m. Galloway Township Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles at the intersection of Pomona Road and Delaware Avenue.
According to Police, a Hyundia Elantra, driven by Jeffrey Ross, 55 of Mays Landing, was traveling north on Pomona Road in the area of Delaware Avenue when it crossed the centerline and struck the side of a southbound Freightliner box truck driven by Chester Goode, 32 of Egg Harbor City.  
The box truck then veered off the roadway and the Elantra stopped at the point of impact in the roadway.
