Vehicle Engulfed in Flames after Hitting Two Parked Cars in Early Morning Accident

On the early morning of Saturday November 29th, 2014 at approximately 4:47 a.m., the Absecon Police Department responded in the area of Ohio Avenue for a three car motor vehicle accident.

Upon police arrival it was discovered the vehicle which caused the accident was fully engulfed in flames and the driver was able to safely remove himself from the vehicle without injury. 

Absecon Fire Department quickly responded and was able to efficiently extinguish the vehicle fire. During the investigation the driver was identified as, Jorge Santiago.

Hamilton Twp. Man Found at Scene, Charged with Murder

HAMILTON TWP – A man has been arrested for the murder last night of the woman with whom he lived, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced this morning.
Joseph Morrison, 62, of the 6000 block of Sears Ave., Mays Landing, was charged this morning with murder, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, for shooting and killing Debra J. Mason, 52, of the same address.
At 9:55 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, Hamilton Township Police, Hamilton Township Rescue, and AtlantiCare paramedics responded to the Sears Avenue home in response to a 9-1-1 call. Upon arrival, Mason was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. Mason was pronounced dead at the scene

Children Awarded by Galloway Police for their "Good Deed" and Honesty

On May 31, 2014, Galloway Officers were contacted to respond to an area store parking lot where they were met by three small children ages 6, 9 and 13 along with their father. 

The three children located $180.00 in cash and immediately laughed with each other about things they would like to buy with the money. After speaking with their Dad they decided to contact the police and turn over the money in case someone had reported that they lost it. 

"I have been a police officer for 15-years and as soon as I read the Patrol officers report as the Property Supervisor, I immediately reached out to the father and thanked him for teaching his children to do the right thing" said Acting Captain Donna Higbee.

Search Warrant on Galloway Home Results in Drug Charges

On November 21, 2014, a search warrant was executed by the Galloway Township Police Department in the 200 block of Koch Avenue in regards to a narcotics investigation.  

As a result of the search warrant, Verna Watkins, 48 of Galloway, and Fela Mandela, 48 of Galloway were arrested for Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Heroin), Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Township of Galloway Seeks Proposals for Municipal Professionals for 2015

Galloway Township is seeking Request for Proposals / Qualifications for Municipal Professionals for 2015. Proposals must be submitted to Acting Township Clerk Kelli Danieli no later than Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at 11:00AM prevailing time, according to the RFP Packet.

A CD shall be submitted in a sealed envelope and must be marked with the "Name of Position" being sought. Fax proposals will NOT be accepted, according to the RFP Packet.

Police Investigating Attempted Suicide on the Absecon Train Tracks

On Sunday, November 23, 2014 at 12:51pm the Absecon Police Department along with Absecon Medical Services responded to the train station platform for a subject struck by a New Jersey Transit train. Upon arrival a fifty-two year old female was located under the train platform. The female was observed walking along the tracks and jumping in front of the train. 

The female was treated and transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center- City Campus by the Absecon EMS assisted by AtlantiCare paramedics. Absecon Police assisted the New Jersey Transit Police with their investigation.

Former EHC Detective Receives Suspended 5-year Sentence for Official Misconduct

MAYS LANDING – A former Egg Harbor City Police Detective was sentenced today for official misconduct, by exploiting his position as a police officer in order to engage in sexual conduct with several women, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
On Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, Steven Hadley, 31, of Port Republic, was charged with four counts of second-degree official misconduct.
The charges specified that Hadley committed acts related to his office that constituted unauthorized use of his official position as a police officer in order to obtain benefit for himself, specifically sexual conduct.

McDonalds Employees Thwart Strong-Arm Robbery; Suspect Tried to Steal Five Dollars

On November 17, 2014 at 9:02 p.m., the Absecon Police Department received several 9-1-1 calls reporting a strong-arm robbery at the Absecon McDonald's (551 White Horse Pike). 

Police arrived within minutes and arrested the suspect, who was still inside the restaurant being held down by employees. The suspect was identified as 31-year-old Cory J. Leuffgen of Little Egg Harbor, NJ.

After placing an order at the sales counter, and waiting for the cashier to open the register, the suspect made his move, lunging over the counter and grabbing at the money in the open register. The suspect grabbed a five-dollar bill and then sprinted toward the exit doors.

Egg Harbor City Police Blotter October 26 - November 15, 2014

Egg Harbor City Police have released their Police Blotter for the week of October 26, 2014 to November 15, 2014.  Arrests consist of trespassing, contempt of court, and simple assault.

Leah M. Elton, 36, of Egg Harbor City was arrested by Ptl. Tom Coney for contempt of court on October 26.

Xenia Orellana-Narvaez, 37, of Egg Harbor Township was arrested by Sgt. Dylan Hutton for contempt of court on October 28.

Tyshon M. Nieves, 22, of Egg Harbor City was arrested by Ptl. Dave Aldridge for contempt of court on October 29.

Police Search for Suspects in Early Morning Shooting in Absecon

On Sunday, November 16, 2014 at approximately 2:22 AM, the Absecon Police Department began an investigation into a shooting that was reported to have occurred on Turner Avenue in the area of Absecon Boulevard.

Two male victims, of whom identities are being withheld at this time, arrived at the Absecon Municipal Complex to report that they had been shot at multiple times.

According to the victims, at approximately 1:45 AM, their 1997 Black Chevrolet S-10 was stopped at a red traffic signal facing southbound on Turner Avenue.

Man Charged with Murder and Arson in Death of Mother and Child in EHC Fire

EGG HARBOR CITY – A man has been charged with murder and arson in connection with the killing two days ago in their Egg Harbor City home of the mother and child with whom he cohabited, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced today.
Joseph F. Palmer 3rd, 38, of 214 Washington Avenue, Egg Harbor City, was charged today with the Wednesday, November 12th murders of a woman who remains officially unidentified pending definitive forensic analysis—but is believed to be Michelle Pabst, 38—and of her son, Gavin Pabst, age 7, both of the same address.

Atlantic City Electric & Exelon Employees Volunteer at Community FoodBank & Donate Food Items for Those in Need

In response to recent casino closings resulting in the loss of about 8,000 jobs, more than 130 Atlantic City Electric and Exelon employees and their families will work side-by-side with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey Southern Branch packing boxes with donated food to be given to residents in need this holiday season. 

On Saturday, November 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Atlantic City Electric and Exelon will hold the food drive at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey Southern Branch, 6735 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township, N.J. 
        
To support this volunteer event, Atlantic City Electric and Exelon held food drives at locations across the two companies asking employees to donate items to help stock the cupboards of the FoodBank. Also as part of this initiative, Atlantic City Electric and Exelon donated $30,000 to the FoodBank which is estimated to provide food to about 1,500 families.

EHC Fire Claims the Life of Two People; Fire Deemed Suspicious

EGG HARBOR CITY – The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the deaths of two victims at the site of a structure fire in Egg Harbor City, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced today.
At approximately 8:00 this morning, Wednesday, November 12, 2014, Egg Harbor City Police, Mullica Township Police, and firefighters from the Egg Harbor City Volunteer Fire Department and the South Egg Harbor Volunteer Fire Company responded to a residential structure fire on the 200 block of Washington Avenue, Egg Harbor City.

Driver and Two Young Children Transported to Hospital After Vehicle Overturns on Route 30

On November 11, 2014 at approximately 4:32pm, the Galloway Township Police Department responded to an accident on the White Horse Pike involving an overturned vehicle.

A 2013 Kia Optima was traveling west bound on the White Horse Pike when it lost control at Breman Ave, left the roadway, struck a utility pole and overturned.  

The 38 year old driver as well as his two juvenile passengers (ages 9 and 7) were transported to the AtlantiCare Center City Division via ambulance.

Galloway Man Arrested After Eluding Police; Faces Drug and Weapon Charges

On November 6, 2014 at 12:19 a.m., Galloway Township Police were on a car stop investigating a suspicious motor vehicle when the driver, Jeffrey Austin fled the scene of the motor vehicle stop on foot. The car stop occurred on the White Horse Pike and Sixth Avenue.

Jeffrey P. Austin, 25, of Galloway was wanted out of Egg Harbor City for not appearing in court and was quickly apprehended just several blocks away by K-9 Officer Hiram Melendez and his partner Chico. 

Once treated for his injuries and released from the hospital, Austin was charged with Eluding Apprehension, Resisting arrest, Possession of a loaded .357 by a convicted felon, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police Seek Suspects in Armed Carjacking at Motel in Absecon

On November 4, 2014 at approximately 6:45 pm an armed carjacking occurred at the Executive Lodge located on Absecon Blvd. 

The 70 year old victim, whom police are not identifying, had just pulled into the parking lot when the suspects pulled into the parking lot directly behind the victim. 

One suspect is observed exiting the vehicle and going to the front desk of the Motel. While this suspect is inside the motel, two more suspects exit an unknown model vehicle and begin walking toward the rooms of the motel until they see the driver and a female passenger exit the vehicle.

Galloway Resident Arrested on Drug Charges After Search Warrant Executed

On November 5, 2014, a search warrant was executed by the Galloway Twp. Police Dept. Investigations Unit in the Mattix Crossing Complex (Colonial Court) in regard to a narcotics investigation.  

As a result of the search warrant, Eric Vaughan, 41, of Galloway, was arrested for Distribution of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Crack Cocaine), Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (2 Separate Counts) and Possession of Marijuana under 50 Grams.

The firefighters and ladies auxiliary of the Oceanville Volunteer Fire Company invite you to their Semi-Annual Baked Ham & Fried Oyster Dinner.

EHC Police Investigating Shooting; Victim Shot in the Back

On Sunday, November 2, 2014 at approximately 9:24 p.m., the Egg Harbor City Police responded to several reports of shots being fired on the 100 Block of Egg Harbor City.

Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, 23-year-old Caleb Bostic, laying in a back laundry room. Bostic had suffered multiple gunshots wounds to his back. The crime scene was located in the vicinity of 7th Terrace and Arago Street.

Dump Truck Overturns on Access Road to Garden State Parkway; Driver Trapped

On November 3, 2014 at 2:32 p.m., the Galloway Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving an overturned dump truck. 

A 1999 Mack Dump Truck driven by Harold Banks of Bridgeton NJ overturned as it was traveling down a construction access road.  

It appears the truck got too close to the edge of the dirt and gravel road, that collapsed under the truck, loaded with top soil. The collapse caused the truck to overturn on its passenger side trapping the driver.

Galloway Woman Sent to Hospital After a Car Makes Illegal U-Turn on Route 30

On October 31, 2014 at approximately 10:25pm, the Absecon Police Department responded to a three car motor vehicle accident on Route 30 in front of the Home Depot. 

When patrols arrived, all vehicles were still in the roadway with all the occupants out of the vehicles. Upon investigation, a Ford Fiesta operated by 28-year-old Jennifer Sylvain of Brooklyn NY was traveling East on Route 30 when she attempting to make an illegal u-turn to travel West. 

A second vehicle, a Toyota Camry operated by 24-year-old Michael Carr Jr., of Absecon, was also traveling East on Route 30 made impact with the turning vehicle. This impact forced the Camry into oncoming Route 30 traffic and struck a third vehicle, a Lincoln LS operated by 50-year-old Sharon Bradley of Galloway Township.
