MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City man was sentenced today to six years in prison for selling heroin to an undercover police officer, while employed and in the uniform of an Atlantic City Boardwalk Ambassador, Acting First Assistant Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton announced today.
Kevin B. Wright, 55, of Atlantic City, pleaded guilty to Possession/Distribution of Controlled Dangerous Substances (heroin) Within 500 Feet of a Public Housing Facility—a 2nd degree crime—on November 22, 2013, as part of a plea agreement.
Today, Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Albert Garofolo sentenced Wright to a six- year term of incarceration in New Jersey State Prison, of which he must serve 33 months before becoming eligible for parole. Wright was also fined $2205.00.
Possession/distribution of a controlled dangerous substance (heroin) within 500 feet of a public housing facility is a 2nd degree crime.
The conviction was a result of a May 2013 heroin distribution investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit and the Atlantic City Task Force, during which Wright sold heroin to an undercover police officer near the Atlantic City Boardwalk while in the uniform of a Boardwalk Ambassador.
Wright was employed at the time of the investigation as an Atlantic City Boardwalk Ambassador by ABM Building Value, Subcontractor for the CRDA.
The investigation concluded with Wright’s arrest on May 30, 2013 on four charges: the charge to which he pled, two counts of possession/distribution of controlled dangerous substances, and one count of possession of heroin. The three additional charges were dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Wright was released on bail on June 1, 2013, but has remained in custody at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on unrelated charges since September 17, 2013.
Following sentencing today, Wright was remanded back into custody.
Chief Assistant Prosecutor Janet Gravitz represented the State in the case.

Didn't he see the "no drug dealing" signs near the public housing? I am glad we have that law to stop guys like him.
