Atlantic City Teen Fatally Shot, Another Wounded After Altercation

ATLANTIC CITY – An Atlantic City teen was fatally shot during an altercation yesterday afternoon, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
On Wednesday, Jan. 8, at approximately 3 p.m. Atlantic City Police responded to the scene of a shooting near the intersection of Route 30 and Virginia Avenue.
Upon arrival, two teen males, ages 13 and 15, were discovered to have sustained gunshot wounds. One victim was shot in the chest and the second victim was shot in the leg.

Both victims were transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Campus. The male who was shot in the chest was pronounced dead at the hospital. He has been identified as Angel Mercado-Santiago, 13. The victim who was shot in the leg, age 15, is expected to survive.
This homicide is under investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department. No arrests have yet been made.
