Robbery Investigation Leads to Juvenile Charged with Obstruction, Assault on Police and Assault on Police K9 Titan

On October 26,2013 at 4:00 p.m. Galloway Township Police responded to the area of St. Josephs Street in the Pomona Oaks section of the Township for the report of motor vehicles burglary and a theft in progress.

The notifying witness followed the suspects to a particular residence on St. Joseph St.  Patrol units arrived and while investigating the call, a juvenile male exited the residence and attempted to obstruct the investigation of the burglary.  The juvenile in question then physically resisted the Officer as she attempted to take him into custody.

K9 Officer Welsh arrived as back-up and K9 Titan apprehended the juvenile who was actively resisting arrest.  The juvenile repeatedly punched K9 Titan during the apprehension.  While the officers attempted to control the juvenile, a resident at the same location, later identified as Patricia Pendleton obstructed justice by physically attempting to prevent the juvenile’s arrest.

Pendleton was taken into custody and charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.  She was processed and released.  The juvenile was medically treated and placed into home detention.  The juvenile male was charged with obstruction of justice, aggravated assault on police, assault on a police K9, resisting arrest, burglary, and theft. K9 Titan does not appear to be injured from the assault.

Officer Rita Abatemarco and K9 Officer Kevin Welsh are the investigating Officers.
