On Friday, September 11, 2015 the Absecon Police Department Detective Bureau initiated an operation to address safety concerns on the White Horse Pike, as well as illegal drug activity in several areas in the city.
Detectives and plain clothes officers targeted problem areas and conducted surveillance looking for pedestrian and bicyclist violations. These include pedestrians improperly crossing the White Horse Pike, jumping across the concrete barrier, as well as other dangerous and illegal activity.
It also included, among others, bicycles operating in the dark without proper safety equipment. The operation was in response to numerous fatal accidents involving pedestrians in Absecon as well as other towns in Atlantic County.
The six hour operation resulted in the issuance of numerous motor vehicle summonses and the arrest of five adults on various charges.
Jose Baez, 31, of Absecon was arrested on multiple outstanding warrants. He was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility
Jabril Harper, 21, of Atlantic City was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and multiple outstanding warrants. He was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Crayton Williams Jr, 20, of Absecon was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on a summons.
Makil Harper, 22, of Atlantic City was arrested for hindering apprehension and multiple outstanding warrants. He was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
Lyndon Gooding, 22, of Galloway Township, was arrested for possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was released on a summons.
