Single Motor Vehicle Accident Turned Fatal in Hamilton Township

On November 24, 2013 at approximately 2:45PM, the Township of Hamilton Police Department responded to Wrangleboro Rd (CR 575) in the area of milepost 11 for a reported one vehicle motor vehicle crash. 

Investigation revealed a 2009 Honda Accord traveling southbound on Wrangleboro Road passed another vehicle traveling in the southbound direction. While the Honda was returning to the southbound lane of travel, the driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. After leaving the roadway, the vehicle impacted several trees on the side of the road. 

The driver, who has not been identified pending notification of family members, was pronounced dead at the scene. There were no other occupants in the vehicle. The driver was wearing a seatbelt. 

No other vehicles were involved in the crash. 

Traffic in the area was diverted for three and a half hours while the scene was cleared. 


The crash is being investigated by Officers Greg VanGilder and Wade Smith along with Detective Michael Robison of the Township of Hamilton Police Department. Also assisting at the scene were the Township of Hamilton Rescue, AtlantiCare Paramedics, Cologne Volunteer Fire Company, New Jersey Office of the Medical Examiner, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Crash Unit.
