Pleasantville Man Dies of Gunshot Wound to Head

PLEASANTVILLE – A Pleasantville man is dead, found last night in Pleasantville, the apparent victim of a shooting, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
Pleasantville Police responded last night, July 14, 2016, at 11:23 p.m. to Vola Lane, Pleasantville, for multiple 9-1-1 calls. EMS and AtlantiCare paramedics also responded to the scene.
Upon arrival, police found Mark Smith, 19, of Pleasantville, on the ground, bleeding from a head wound. Smith was transported by emergency medical responders to the AtlantiCare Medical Center—City Campus, where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Ali at 12:15 a.m., July 15, 2016. Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit detectives also responded to the scene and to the hospital.

Next-of-kin have been notified. An autopsy is pending.
