Head-on Collision Sends One To Hospital; Second Charged with DWI

On July 1, 2016 at 8:58 p.m., Galloway Township Police responded to a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles that collided head-on.

According to Police, a 2003 Ford minivan driven by William Cross 20, of Galloway was traveling north on Wrangleboro Road when it crossed the center line and struck a 1995 Dodge pickup head on. 

The pickup was driven by Dennis Avent 56, of Galloway. Avent was transported to ARMC Mainland for serious non-life threatening injuries. 

Cross was uninjured in the collision. Cross was however arrested and charged with DWI, assault by auto, and numerous motor vehicle violations by Ofc. Bill Warrell. 

The accident is being investigated by Ofc. Steve Garrison of the GTPD Traffic Unit. The roadway was shut down for approximately 1 hour for investigation and removal of vehicles and debris.

GT Ambulance Squad, Bayview Fire Company and Done Right Towing were assisting agencies.
