Burglar Caught by Galloway Police after Brief Foot Pursuit

On February 4, 2015 at 11:10 pm, Galloway Police responded to a business alarm at the Dollar General Store in the Smithville section of Galloway Township at 45 South New York Road.  

Upon police arrival Patrol Officer Dan Weigle discovered the back door to the business was damaged and entry was gained to the building.  

The suspect, Daniel Maddelin, a 48-year-old male from Mays Landing, fled the business out another back door and was  arrested by Officer Weigle after a brief foot pursuit.  

Maddelin was charged with burglary, resisting arrest, criminal mischief and for being in possession of burglar tools.  

Bail was set by Judge Freed at $50,000 full cash bail.  Maddelin was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility in Mays Landing.  

The burglary is being investigated by Detective Bryan Casey of the Galloway Township Police, 609-652-3705 ext. 310.
