Dump Truck Overturns on Access Road to Garden State Parkway; Driver Trapped

On November 3, 2014 at 2:32 p.m., the Galloway Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving an overturned dump truck.

A 1999 Mack Dump Truck driven by Harold Banks of Bridgeton NJ overturned as it was traveling down a construction access road.

It appears the truck got too close to the edge of the dirt and gravel road, that collapsed under the truck, loaded with top soil. The collapse caused the truck to overturn on its passenger side trapping the driver.

The truck is owned by 12 Wheels Construction a contractor for the GSP.

The driver was injured but alert upon GTPD arrival. Ofc. Gary Brenner extricated the driver with a halogen tool by removing the windshield of the truck.

The driver was treated and taken to ARMC Mainland Division for moderate non-life threatening injuries by Galloway Twp Ambulance Squad.  The exit ramp was shut down for approximately 20 minutes while the truck was turned over and removed.

Officer Steve Garrison is investigating.
