Galloway Police Announce Coffee with a Public Safety Professional

(Galloway Township) – On Tuesday, April 18, 2017 the Galloway Township Police Department, in conjunction with the Oceanville Volunteer Fire Company and the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad will be hosting the first of several “Coffee with a Public Safety Professional” events.  

This event is being held at the Oceanville Fire Company at 186 S. New York Road in Galloway at 10:00am.  Please come out and join us to get to know your local public safety professionals. 

These events will be held at each Galloway Township Fire Company throughout the summer/fall, so check back for dates/times in your area.

Galloway Police Crack Down on Unbuckled Motorist & Passengers


Seat Belt Enforcement and Education Campaign to be Conducted Locally as Part of Nationwide 
Click It or Ticket Mobilization May 23 – June 5, 2016

(Galloway) -- Law enforcement officers from the Galloway Township Police Department will be cracking down on unbuckled motorists and passengers as part of the national “Click it or Ticket” campaign.

Beginning May 23 and running through June 5, the annual initiative includes high visibility law enforcement seat belt checkpoints and saturation patrols, as well as local and national publicity designed to ensure that drivers and passengers recognize the life-saving value of seat belts.

Impaired Driving Enforcement Crackdown to be Conducted Locally as Part of Statewide Year End Campaign

(Galloway Township) — Law enforcement officials from Galloway Township will be cracking down on drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs as part of the annual end of year “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” statewide campaign.  Beginning December 11, 2015 and continuing through January 1, 2016, local and state law enforcement officials will conduct saturation patrols and sobriety checkpoints looking for motorists who may be driving while intoxicated.

The national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” effort endeavors to raise awareness about the dangers of impaired driving through a combination of high-visibility enforcement and public education.

Seat Belt Enforcement and Education Campaign to be Conducted Locally as Part of Nationwide

Click It or Ticket Mobilization May 18 – 31, 2015

(Galloway) -- Law enforcement officers from the Galloway Township Police Department will be cracking down on unbuckled motorists and passengers as part of the national “Click it or Ticket” campaign.

Beginning May 18 and running through May 31, the annual initiative includes high visibility law enforcement seat belt checkpoints and saturation patrols, as well as local and national publicity designed to ensure that drivers and passengers recognize the life-saving value of seat belts.  

“Using a seat belt is the simplest way for a driver and his or her passengers to protect themselves when traveling,” said Gary Poedubicky, Acting Director of the New Jersey Division of Highway Traffic Safety.   "In 2012 alone, seat belts saved an estimated 12,000 lives nationwide.”

Assistance Needed in Locating Missing Galloway Woman

The Galloway Township Police Department is requesting help from the public with locating Lorelei Burnett a Galloway Twp. resident that was reported missing on April 23, 2015.  
Ms. Burnett was last seen wearing blue jeans, a gray hooded sweatshirt with the “NY Giants” logo on it, and wearing white sneakers.  Lorelei is a 63 year-old white female.  
Ms. Burnett could also be operating a silver 2005 Toyota Rav4.

Please Note: NO BUSINESSES permitted at these events.  Residents should bring only confidential/sensitive materials – magazines and non-confidential papers should be recycled curbside.  This is a garbage-free event – whatever containers (boxes or plastic or paper bags your material is brought in), must be brought home by residents.

Galloway Wellness Fair is Thursday, March 19th at Galloway Middle School

On Thursday, March 19 from 6 - 8pm at the Galloway Township Middle School there will be a FREE Family Fun Night at Galloway's Wellness Fair! A variety of stations and demonstrations relating to your health and wellness will be set up, plus door prizes, opportunities to purchase raffle tickets, and much more! 

Participants include: AtlantiCare, County Division of Public Health, Calabro Chiropractic, Tilton Fitness, New Day Family Success Center, and many more! See the attached flyer for more information.

Atlantic City Electric & Exelon Employees Volunteer at Community FoodBank & Donate Food Items for Those in Need

In response to recent casino closings resulting in the loss of about 8,000 jobs, more than 130 Atlantic City Electric and Exelon employees and their families will work side-by-side with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey Southern Branch packing boxes with donated food to be given to residents in need this holiday season. 

On Saturday, November 15 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Atlantic City Electric and Exelon will hold the food drive at the Community FoodBank of New Jersey Southern Branch, 6735 Black Horse Pike, Egg Harbor Township, N.J. 
        
To support this volunteer event, Atlantic City Electric and Exelon held food drives at locations across the two companies asking employees to donate items to help stock the cupboards of the FoodBank. Also as part of this initiative, Atlantic City Electric and Exelon donated $30,000 to the FoodBank which is estimated to provide food to about 1,500 families.

Senate Passes Supporting Measure Requiring South Jersey Representation on Turnpike Authority

Bipartisan legislation by sponsored by the 9th District Legislative delegation that would require under State law that at least one member of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority be from South Jersey achieved passage by the State Senate.
The measure, S-241, sponsored Senator Christopher J. Connors, would require at least one member of the Turnpike Authority to be a resident of Ocean, Atlantic County, or Cape May County. Assemblyman Brian E. Rumpf and Assemblywoman DiAnne C. Gove are prime sponsors of the identical companion measure, A-2787, which is awaiting action by the Assembly Transportation and Independent Authorities Committee.

Philadelphia 76ers Hold Training Camp at Richard Stockton College

Galloway Township, NJ -The Philadelphia 76ers will hold training camp at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey’s Sports Center from Sept. 30-Oct. 4.
Stockton is pleased to host the Sixers at our $17 million Sports Center, an excellent facility which boasts four basketball courts, including two regulation side-by-side full courts,” said President Herman Saatkamp. “This is wonderful news for Stockton and an example of our many community partnerships throughout the region and beyond.”

UPDATED: Burger King Maybe Headed to "Downtown Galloway"; Mayor Endorsed but Board Approval Yet to be Granted

UPDATED: Burger King has been scheduled for tonights Planning Board Meeting. The agenda, which was emailed by the Township at 1:27 a.m., the day of meeting, lists Jersey Shore  Federal Credit Union Phase II, which is the proposed site for Burger King. 

The meeting is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., in the Council Chambers at the Municipal Complex where the public is welcomed to attend and speak at the public portion of the application.

Galloway Township may soon be getting a Burger King. The project site for the proposed Burger King is scheduled to be located on Jimmie Leeds Road and Eighth Avenue, behind the Jersey Shore Federal Credit Union. 

The area known as "Downtown Galloway", has a ShopRite, CVS, WaWa and TD bank located at the same intersection as well as other named commercial developments.

The application that was submitted calls for final site plan approval for Phase II which will allow for the construction of a one-story, 2,800 square foot restaurant building called (Burger King). The plan calls for twenty-five (25) parking spaces and a drive-thru lane with an exit across from the ShopRite exit onto Eighth Avenue.

Division of Motor Vehicle Announces Passenger Vehicle Transportation (PVT) and You

Passenger Vehicle Transportation (PVT) plates were issued to commercial vehicles by the N.J. Motor Vehicle Commission beginning July 1, 2014 in Atlantic County. The PVT plates will aid law enforcement in identifying particular types of commercial vehicles.

The N.J. Motor Vehicle Commission issued seven new types of commercial vehicle plates for the bus community. Passenger transportation has advanced from the simple commercial buses, taxicabs or limousines.

Dynamo Gymnastics Team Brings Home Several Medals from Nationals Including Gold!

The Dynamo Gymnastics Team from Galloway traveled to Orlando, Florida to compete in the USAIGC National Championships from June 25-July 3, 2014.

Morgan Lancaster and Alissa Taylor both won national titles capturing gold medals while teammate Allie Hudson earned five medals including four silver and one bronze.

Copper, Ages 5-6
Allie Hudson placed 2nd All-Around (35.925), 2nd Vault (9.3), 2nd Bars (8.925), 2nd Beam (8.85), and 3rd Floor (8.85).
