Egg Harbor City Man Sentenced to 8-Years in Prison for Gun and Narcotic Crimes

MAYS LANDING – A 19 year-old Egg Harbor City man was sentenced today to 8 years in prison for a guns and narcotics crimes committed in Egg Harbor City over a 10-month period during 2013 and 2014, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
Ernest Collier, now 19, of the 1000 block of Buffalo Ave., Egg Harbor City, was sentenced this morning by Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Mark H. Sandson to serve 8 years in New Jersey State prison for crimes involving guns and drug distribution, and eluding police, committed on four separate occasions between July 2013 and May 2014. Collier was 18 years-old at the time of the crimes.

On December 18, 2013, as part of a 7-month-long joint narcotics investigation, members of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Guns, Gangs, and Narcotics (GGN) Unit, the Atlantic County SWAT Team, and the Egg Harbor City, Galloway Twp., and Pleasantville police departments executed simultaneous search warrants at two units of the Philadelphia Village Housing Complex, located at 1000 Buffalo Avenue.
Authorities seized over $10,000 worth of heroin, multiple firearms, ammunition, cash, and a two-way radio communications system. Nine individuals were arrested in connection with heroin trafficking, including Ernest Collier. Collier was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $75,000 cash bail, and subsequently indicted for multiple counts of heroin distribution, possession, and conspiracy to distribute heroin.
Collier was charged on Dec. 24, 2013 with the unlawful possession and sale of a stolen handgun as the result of a separate investigation, which included law enforcement surveillance of the transaction. Additional bail was set at $35,000 cash.
After release from custody on bail, Collier was charged on March 11, 2014 by Egg Harbor City Police with Eluding Police and several motor vehicle violations, for creating a risk of death or injury to other drivers and pedestrians by his reckless actions on Philadelphia Avenue, EHC. Those actions included driving in the lane of oncoming traffic, forcing a vehicle off the roadway.
On May 16, 2014, released from custody on bail, Collier was arrested for Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, and Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, for shooting at two persons who were inside a motor vehicle on Cincinnati Avenue, EHC. Collier was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
In accordance with a plea agreement made on July 25, 2014, Ernest Collier pled guilty to 2 counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Eluding Police, and Distribution of Heroin—all 2nd degree crimes.
Judge Sandson sentenced Collier today to an aggregate total term of imprisonment of 8 years in New Jersey State Prison. Collier must serve 4 years and 3 months, before becoming eligible for parole. The sentence also includes 3 years of parole supervision after release from prison.
Chief Assistant Prosecutor Janet Gravitz represented the State in the matter.

So why is the shooting oN Cincinnati just on news now months after was anyone hurt during shooting man good thing galloway news does there job cuz shootings go unreported in ehc too much
