On Labor Day, Monday, September 1, 2014, the Absecon Police Department Detectives arrested two individuals after a three week long burglary investigation involving local businesses.

In all three burglaries, forced entry was made into the business and cash and large amounts of nicotine products were stolen. Surveillance video and evidence recovered at the scene resulted in the suspects being identified.
Patrol Officer’s assisted the Detective Bureau in locating both suspects in different areas in town. Police arrested Jack Kalman (age 49) and Arthur Schellinger 3rd (age 53) both Absecon residents.
Jack Kalman was charged with
2 counts of burglary
2 counts of conspiracy
2 counts of theft
Bail was set at $30,000 Cash.
Arthur Schellinger 3rd was charged with
3 counts of burglary
2 counts of conspiracy
3 counts of theft.
Bail was set at $50,000 Cash.
Both Kalman and Schellinger were lodged in the Atlantic County Jail.
Detectives continue to investigate numerous other burglaries.
Case was investigated by Det. L. Gadd, Jr. and Det.Sgt. J. Lee.
