K-9 Zito, K-9 Titan & K-9 Rocky with their handlers
This weekend The Galloway Township Police Department K-9 Unit took the 1st place overall team award at The United States Police Canine Association Region 15 Police Dog 1 Trials that were held in Ocean Township, NJ.

The team consisted of Sgt. Mark D’Esposito & K-9 Zito, Officer Kevin Welsh & K-9 Titan, and Officer Winneberger & K-9 Rocky.  Also teamed up with Galloway were Sgt. Sean Dawson & K-9 Ace of The New Jersey State Police and Officer Mark McElwee & K-9 Sonny of The Somers Point Police Department.

The USPCA Region 15 Police Dog 1 Trials bring together numerous K-9 teams from across New Jersey to compete in various events that are similar to situations a police K-9 and its handler may encounter while working their daily patrols.

During the competition each K-9 team is tested and scored during these events that include: obedience, evidence search, suspect search, agility, and criminal apprehension.   Galloway Township K-9 and their team members were able to maintain the highest overall score in these events in a crowded field of Police Dog 1 Trial participants.
