Absegami Marching Braves Win First Place at USBands Mid-Atlantic Championships in Maryland

The Absegami High School Marching Braves, under the direction of Jon Porco, competed at the University of Maryland, USBands Mid-Atlantic Championships on Saturday, November 5th.  Scoring 93.025, the Braves won first place in their group!  They also received caption awards for Best Color Guard, Best Music, Best Visual Effect, and Best Overall Effect.
Competing in a Tournament Form, the Marching Braves performed again against all 26 bands to receive the award for Best Overall Color Guard.


Their show, Dia De Los Muertos, celebrating the Mexican Holiday, Day of the Dead, was a fan favorite with traditional music and dances, unique costuming and surprises throughout.  The Marching Braves next performance will be at the USBands National Championship competition at MetLife Stadium in North Jersey on November 12.  This will be the culmination of months of practice, learning music and drill, and competitions all over New Jersey.
