On December 1, 2015 at 1:16 p.m., the Galloway Township Police Department received a 911 phone call from a concerned citizen indicating that a male subject was attempting to enter a residence on the 300 block of E. Cos Cob Drive.
Officer Guercioni responded to the scene where he made contact with Elijah Thomas, 18, of Mays Landing who was exiting the rear of the residence and matched the description of the suspect that was provided by the 911 caller.
Thomas advised police that he had signed himself out of school and was meeting a friend at the residence. During the investigation it was determined that the story provided by Thomas was false.
Police also discovered that Thomas attempted to enter the residence as screen doors and windows were tampered with. The homeowner was also contacted and indicated that he had no affiliation with Thomas.
Additionally, Thomas was also found in possession of black gloves and an empty backpack.
Thomas was placed in custody and transported to The Galloway Township Police Department.
Thomas was charged with criminal attempt burglary and lodged in The Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $20,000 bail.
