Driver Transported to Area Hospital from Motor Vehicle Accident Involving Overturned Vehicle

On April 3, 2014 at approximately 9:05 p.m. the Absecon Police Department, Ambulance Squad, and Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving an overturned vehicle. 

The accident occurred at the intersection of Turner Avenue and US Route 30 in the west bound lanes.

Witness accounts of the accident revealed a Nissan Xterra operated by Robert Martinelle, 64 yrs old of Manahawkin, was traveling west on Route 30 in the inside lane of travel. 

The vehicle failed to stop for a red traffic signal and collided with a Mercedes Benz operated by Jeffrey Avant, 43 yrs old of Galloway Township which was traveling south on Turner Avenue. As a result of the impact the Nissan overturned and was found on its roof in the westbound lanes of Route 30. Martinelle was transported to the Hospital for evaluation.
