Stockton College Seeking Applicants for Chief of Police / Director of Public Safety



According to Monster.com, the Richard Stockton College of New Jersey is currently seeking a Chief of Police/ Director of Public Safety to command the police department which serves under the direction of the Vice President for Administration and Finance.  This position oversees patrol operations, investigations, officer recruitment and training, 911 communications center, crime prevention, NJSACOP accreditation, federal crime reporting and compliance, incident / emergency scene management. In addition, this position leads the community policing efforts which entails a unique opportunity and challenge of a college residential campus and student engagement.


The Chief of Police/ Director of Public Safety position requires a hands-on approach with an honest, transparent form of communication. The candidate must be a committed leader who will hold people accountable, assure a proper atmosphere for the pursuit of the educational objectives of the campus community, be a mentor and work with people at various levels in the organization, students, administration, external agencies and other jurisdictions. Candidate must have a working knowledge / understanding of National Incident Management System (NIMS) and must understand Emergency Operations Center (EOC) and training requirements. The candidate must hold a valid PTC certificate for the Chief of Police position. Director of Public Safety may be considered.

Minimum Qualifications
· Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Criminal Justice, Legal, Justice Administration Public or Business Administration or related field
·  Excellent  interpersonal and communication skills
·  Ten years as a supervisor/police administration.
·  Executive Management Training (FBI National Academy, Northwestern, West Point, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications
·  Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university, Federal Bureau of Investigations National Academy and other senior supervisory schools
·   Experience in a college or university environment
