Atlantic City Man Indicted for Murder of Gregory J. Gibbs; Pleasantville Man in 2012


MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City man has been indicted for the murder of a Pleasantville man in 2012, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced today.

On July 17, an Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted Gregory J. Gibbs, 36, for the murder of Chikki Smith, 33, who was found by police fatally shot on the evening of Dec. 3, 2012, in a South Main Street parking lot in Pleasantville. Police responded to the scene in regards to a shots fired call and discovered Smith, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
A homicide investigation was initiated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit in conjunction with the Pleasantville Police Department, which resulted in the issuance of an arrest warrant for Gibbs.
On Jan. 7, 2013, Gibbs turned himself in to the Pleasantville Police Department. He was arrested and lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility, where he currently remains in lieu of $1 million cash bail.
Gibbs has been indicted for murder and multiple weapons offenses.
