EGG HARBOR TWP. – An Egg Harbor Township man has been charged with the murder of a Pleasantville man, who was fatally shot in 2010, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
Last night, at approximately 8:30 p.m., members of the Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit, the Pleasantville Police Department and the Egg Harbor Township Police Department arrested Jerome Byrd, 29, at a mobile home on the 6000 block of the Black Horse Pike in Egg Harbor Township without incident.
Byrd has been charged with the murder of Scott Godfrey, 21. On May 10, 2010, Godfrey was fatally shot multiple times outside of a convenience store in Pleasantville.
The Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Pleasantville Police Department investigated the homicide.
On June 28, a warrant was issued for Byrd’s arrest. Byrd faces murder and weapons offenses.
Byrd has been lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $1,000,000 full cash bail.
A first appearance in court is pending.
