Galloway Man Arrested for DWI after Vehicle Overturns into Woods

On June 3, 2014 at 9:09 p.m. Galloway Township Police responded to a single motor vehicle accident on Great Creek Road. 

William Jones, 73 of Galloway, was arrested for DWI after the vehicle he was driving crashed and overturned into the woods.

Police closed the road between Sylvan Avenue and Route 9 for approximately two hours in order for the scene to be investigated and cleared. 

Stockton to Offer Three-Day Dance Workshop in Atlantic City

Galloway Township, NJ- The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey will host a free three-day dance workshop at Dante Hall Theatre, located at N. Mississippi Ave. in Atlantic City June 23-25 for children ages 8-18. The workshop will run Monday, June 23 and Tuesday, June 24 from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., and Wednesday, June 25 from 9 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Taught by Andrea Mychaels, director of the Andrea Mychaels Dance Project, with assistance from area dance professionals, the workshop is designed to foster creativity in children who may not have previously been exposed to the arts.

Students must bring lunch all three days; dinner will be provided on the final day. A free performance of student and professional works will be held on June 25 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dante Hall Theatre. Registration is limited to 60 participants. Galloway Township K-9 Unit Places 1st in Regional Competition

This weekend The Galloway Township Police Department K-9 Unit took the 1^st place overall team award at The United States Police Canine Association Region 15 Police Dog 1 Trials that were held in Ocean Township, NJ.  

The team consisted of Sgt. Mark D’Esposito & K-9 Zito, Officer Kevin Welsh & K-9 Titan, and Officer Winneberger & K-9 Rocky.  Also teamed up with Galloway were Sgt. Sean Dawson & K-9 Ace of The New Jersey State Police and Officer Mark McElwee & K-9 Sonny of The Somers Point Police Department.

Even Though Galloway Says "All Clear", Auditor Offers Recommendations Regarding Township & Department Operations

Every year each municipality in the State of New Jersey is required to conduct an annual audit. The purpose of the audit is to investigate and review the Municipal Finances and Municipal Operations. 

Based upon the review the auditing agency prepares several reports, including an Annual Audit Report and what is commonly known as the "Management Report".

Based upon the audit documentation released by the Township, the review of the Township's operations did not reveal significant findings that normally would be reported in an annual audit. If the findings are reported in the Annual Audit, the Township would be required to prepare a document known as the "Correction Action Plan". That plan then is adopted by the Governing Body and filed with the State of New Jersey. By doing so, the State recognizes that municipality has operational issues to clear up.
