On February 10, 2016 at 6:50 am., the Galloway Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on the White Horse Pike.
According to Police both Eastbound and Westbound lanes of US #30 (White Horse Pike) were closed this morning for approximately 2.5 hours due to a Pedestrian/Motor Vehicle Accident in the area of US #30 and Poplar Avenue.
Sushma P. Patel, 51, of Galloway, was struck while crossing the highway by a 2009 Ford Tauras X, traveling westbound - operated by Maria Rose, 52, of Absecon.
A second vehicle, traveling Eastbound struck Patel as well, however did not remain on scene.
At this time the second vehicle is only described as a white SUV with possible lower front end damage. Patel was pronounced deceased on scene.
The Galloway Township Fatal Reconstruction Unit, Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, and AtlantiCare Medics assisted in the accident.
According to Police, no summons have been issued at this time as the investigation is ongoing.

So sad, must be on the phone. Police should check for their phone record and yes why they didn't issue the hit and run on other car.
I'm guessing she was crossing when and where she shouldn't because two vehicles were involved. The white horse pike is dangerous to cross and I constantly see people running across where there is no light. Or further up in Absecan hopping the median right in front of traffic to save a little walk.
