Hamilton Twp. Man Sentenced 6-Years for Coercing Teen Girls to Perform Sexual Acts

MAYS LANDING – A Hamilton Township man was sentenced last month for endangering the welfare of children and other charges related to his coercing two Colorado sisters, ages 14 and 10, to perform sexual acts on video transmitted live to his home computer via the internet, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
On Friday, November 21, 2014, Paul Montalbo, 20, of the 6300 block of Allegheny Avenue, Mays Landing, was sentenced by Atlantic County Superior Judge Kyran Connor to 6 years of incarceration in New Jersey State prison on two counts of Endangering the Welfare of Children, both counts related to causing a child to engage in a sexual act and causing the creation of internet video of the act.

Judge Connor prohibited Montalbo from future contact with the victim, and further ordered that Montalbo be registered for life as a child sex offender pursuant to Megan’s Law, and that he receive parole supervision for life after release from prison.
Montalbo is also being held by New Jersey on a no-bail detainer by the State of Colorado, to face future additional prosecution in the State of Colorado for the sexual assault and child abuse aspect of the case.
An investigation in July 2013 by Hamilton Township Police Department detectives— assisted by the Larimer County, Colorado, Sheriff’s Office and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit—led, on July 11, 2013, to Montalbo’s arrest and the execution of a search warrant of his home.
Montalbo was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of $750,000 cash bail, where he had remained until his transfer after November’s sentencing to New Jersey State prison.
The State alleges that Montalbo made initial contact with the older victim on the website MeetMe.com, induced the girl to transmit nude photographs of herself to him, then threatened to post those photos on her Facebook page if she did not meet his demand that she perform sexual acts on her 10-year-old sister.
Montalbo was also sentenced by Judge Connor in a separate case to 18 months in prison for harassing a 17-year-old Mays Landing girl while on probation—a 4th degree crime. Both prison sentences will run concurrently.
The State alleges that Montalbo made contact with the Mays Landing victim on Facebook, and harassed her with sexually explicit messages using multiple Facebook accounts.
Montalbo was arrested for that crime by Hamilton Township Police detectives on March 6, 2013, and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $2,500 cash bail set by Municipal Court Judge H. R. Switzer. Montalbo later posted bail, and remained free until his arrest four months later for his crimes against the Colorado victims.
Assistant Prosecutor Lynn Heyer represented the State in both matters.
