Galloway Mother Charged with Child Endangerment After Police Stop Vehicle; DWI and Drug Charges Filed
On December 8, 2014, at 9:14 PM, the Galloway Township Police Department received a 9-1-1 call regarding an erratic driver in the area of Route 30 and Cologne Avenue. Ofc. Kyle Kuhar was in the area and observed the vehicle traveling westbound on Route 30. He initiated a car stop and made contact with the driver, Verna Watkins, 48, of Galloway.
Further investigation resulted in Watkins being found in possession of cocaine and heroin while a small child was a passenger in the vehicle. She was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
Possession of CDS Possession of CDS with Intent to Distribute Possession of CDS Paraphernalia Child Endangerment Driving While Intoxicated Numerous other Motor Vehicle Offenses.
Watkins was lodged in Atlantic County Justice Facility on $100,000 cash bail set by Municipal Court Judge Howard Freed.
Officer Kuhar was assisted by Sgt. Joseph Picardi, Stockton College Police Sgt. Linda Kenny, and Hamilton Township Police Officer Greg Blose.
