Galloway Man Arrested After Eluding Police; Faces Drug and Weapon Charges

On November 6, 2014 at 12:19 a.m., Galloway Township Police were on a car stop investigating a suspicious motor vehicle when the driver, Jeffrey Austin fled the scene of the motor vehicle stop on foot. The car stop occurred on the White Horse Pike and Sixth Avenue.

Jeffrey P. Austin, 25, of Galloway was wanted out of Egg Harbor City for not appearing in court and was quickly apprehended just several blocks away by K-9 Officer Hiram Melendez and his partner Chico. 

Once treated for his injuries and released from the hospital, Austin was charged with Eluding Apprehension, Resisting arrest, Possession of a loaded .357 by a convicted felon, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.  

Austin was lodged in the Atlantic County Jail Facility in lieu of $100,000.00 bail. K-9 Chico was not injured during the apprehension. 

Patrolman Justin Butler and K-9 Officer Hiram Melendez were the arresting officers.

Just bc one officer of ehc was a bad apple doesn't mean they all are. They do their job, trust me my moving violation ticket and recent drug busts they've made prove otherwise.
