Disciplinary Notice and Suspension Filed Against Egg Harbor City Detective Steven Hadley

In June 2013 Galloway Township News first reported the employment of Egg Harbor City Police Detective Steven Hadley was under investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office (ACPO).

At that time Egg Harbor City Clerk Meg Steeb would only confirm the fact that an investigation was being conducted and all questions needed to be forwarded to the Prosecutors Office.
On November 27, 2013, City Clerk Meg Steeb released the Preliminary Notice of Disciplinary Action filed against Hadley on October 7, 2013. Steeb also released the Final Notice of Disciplinary Action and Suspension filed against Detective Steven Hadley on November 7, 2013.

Galloway Township News requested the time sheets and any reason for separation. Hadley was previously placed on Administrative Leave while still receiving pay. According to the new time sheets released Hadley is no longer receiving any pay as of October 12, 2013 from the City of Egg Harbor.
According to the Final Notice of Disciplinary Action signed on November 7, 2013 by Egg Harbor City Mayor Lisa Jiampetti, Hadley was afforded a Disciplinary Hearing to be conducted on October 21, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. regarding the Official Misconduct charges filed against him by the ACPO.

Hadley did not respond to that request for a hearing and therefore was suspended indefinitely effective May 28, 2013 pending the disposition of the criminal charges.
As a recap, on September 24, 2013, Detective Steven Hadley, 31, of Port Republic, was charged by the Atlantic County Prosecutors Office with four counts of official misconduct.
The charges allege that Hadley committed unauthorized exercises of his official function as a police officer in order to obtain benefit for himself, specifically sexual contact. The charges allege that while performing his official duties, Hadley took part in sexual acts with four different women on various occasions, from January of 2010 through May of 2013.

James Schroeder Esq., who is the Attorney representing Hadley was served with the charges due to the fact that Hadley was hospitalized and in critical condition following a single motor vehicle accident Hadley was involved in. The accident occurred on the Garden State Parkway on September 24, 2013. As of November 2013, the accident is still under investigation by the New Jersey State Police.

"The criminal case is pending disposition. No court date has been set" said ACPO PIO Haleigh Walz on November 18, 2013.

Wow... was this because he was laying in a hospital bed in critical condition, yes but of course!! Lets keep the story going because it's not like he doesn't have 3 little kids at home that are trying to get through this. Some people are just heartless.

Is it heartless he slammed his truck into a tree to maybe escape what was headed his way or was he thinking of his three little kids at home? He has an attorney that could've answered the request or requested a stay pending his release from the hospital. Don't blame the website for updating the readers blame the person written about for creating the story. The justice system will sentence him for what he is found guilty of.

It's a shame the website doesn't report all of the facts to this story other than old news rehashed to make it seem newsworthy.....Was there a horrendous motor vehicle accident? Yes there was. Was it intentional? Nothing could be further from the truth.....Regardless of the outcome, right now he has a family at home trying to deal with his devastating injuries not knowing if and when he will ever be discharged from medical treatment.....Why don't you put yourself in his families shoes for a few minutes and see how it feels.

Be advised, comments regarding the specific medical condition of Hadley will not be published. Please keep the comments as they relate to the story and not of the specific medical condition of Hadley.

To Anonymous @ 9:22 p.m., as this is a sensitive subject, the update is needed as the City of Egg Harbor has finally released the documents I had requested months ago. This 'update' would have been completed previously is the City released the documents when originally requested. Regardless, I stand behind the update in alerting the public / taxpayers of the current employment status of an officer in their town as well as the 'reason for separation' which is all public information. If you wish to discuss further you are more than welcome to contact me at gallowaytwpnews@gmail.com. Thank you.

Nothing to talk about, just please think of the 3 kids at home.

Innocent until proven guilty, or is that only reserved for crack heads and heroin dealers? It's funny how people with little to no facts about the case can use a news article and form an opinion. Let Mr. Hadley have his day in court like anyone else. When I read vindictive posts all I think is either the poster hates cops or has a criminal record and is no friend of law enforcement. Just from the "facts" alone, something doesn't seem right with the whole story. Instead of making judgements, you should be praying for a person that is hospitalized and separated from their family, but I guess it's more fun to kick someone when they're down.

One story claims that the motor accident on the Garden State Parkway may well be just that - an accident. This piece of information has been circulating for a while now and has even been hinted at in a previous article on this site.
For several years, Egg Harbor City was plagued with a bit of a prostitution problem.
You read that right, Egg Harbor had a prostitution problem. I saw them on several occasions two summers ago and got the impression that the girls were a wee bit too obvious.
Last year, one of the town nincompoops publicized the 'plague' and posted pictures of some of the 'ladies of the day' on Facebook. He even followed one vehicle that allegedly picked up a prostitute and posted a photograph of it. This was outrageous behavior, since anything could have happened if the alleged 'john' had panicked and decided to try to elude his stalker.
Since then, some have asked if the prostitutes were plying their trade with impunity because they had some protection. I don't know, but it's my understanding that the 'plague' was finally addressed by the local police.
One thing's for sure - I didn't see them this past summer.

Is the town "nincompoop" a volunteer or paid position? :)
