Body Floating in Hammonton Lake Identified as Man from Waterford


HAMMONTON – The body of a Waterford man was discovered in Hammonton Lake yesterday morning, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
On Monday, Sept. 16, the Hammonton Police Department and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crime Unit responded to Hammonton Lake located off of Route 30 in regards to a body found floating in the lake.

The Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene and took custody of the body. The decedent has been positively identified as Charles J. Carley, 45.
Next of kin have been notified. An autopsy completed today ruled the preliminary cause of death as drowning.
