MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City man has been indicted for the 2009 murder of another Atlantic City man, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
Thursday, Sept. 12, an Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted Andrew Garland, 24, of Martin Luther King Boulevard, for murder and weapons offenses.
Garland is charged with the murder of 20-year-old Shaddiy Dixon. Dixon was among four men shot on August 4, 2009, at a block party in a parking lot, between a residential complex and Moe's Chicken located on the 1300 block of Adriatic Avenue. Dixon died as a result of multiple gunshot wounds. The other victims survived the gunshot wounds they sustained.
On Jan. 9, following an extensive investigation, a warrant was issued for Garland’s arrest.
On Jan. 25, Garland turned himself into the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and was lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $1 million cash bail.
