Gloucester County Man Sentenced to Two Life Sentences for Double Homicide of Hammonton Mother & Son in 2011


MAYS LANDING A Gloucester County man was sentenced to two life sentences for the double homicide of a Hammonton mother and son in 2011, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced today.
This morning, Patrick Latko, 34, of Wenonah, received two life sentences in New Jersey State Prison for the murders of Diana Patterson, 64, and her son Ryan Patterson, 29, who were found fatally stabbed multiple times in their Madison Avenue home on November 3, 2011.

In the early morning hours of November 3, Latko entered the Patterson residence armed with a knife and stabbed both victims multiple times.
The Atlantic County Prosecutffice Major Crimes Unit and the Hammonton Police Department conducted a thorough homicide investigation which resulted in the charging and arresting of Latko less than one month later.
On May 1, following a two-week-long trial, a jury convicted Latko of all counts against him after less than two and a half hours of deliberation.
Latko was found guilty of two counts of murder, one count of hindering apprehension, three counts of tampering with physical evidence and weapons offenses.
Today, Latko received a life sentence for each murder, to be served consecutively and subject to the No Early Release Act (NERA).
