Former Galloway Mayor Don Purdy Sues Galloway Township; Mayor Jim Gorman

The new Mayor of Galloway Township, Jim Gorman and the Township of Galloway have been served with a lawsuit from Edwin Jacobs, Esq., on behalf of former Mayor Donald Purdy.

Mayor Jim Gorman was in office for only twenty days when he was already facing legal trouble when he was served with a tort notice on December 18, 2019.

The lawsuit alleges libelous statements were published by Councilman Jim Gorman in two letters that were sent to the Galloway residents regarding the November 5, 2019 election.  Purdy is asserting that those letters falsely accused Purdy of receiving political payouts from the Galloway Planning Board as well as collecting tens of thousands of dollars under a "lucrative towing contract with the Township" as well as other claims.

Purdy has maintained that "this is the last thing I wanted to do was to serve the Township with a lawsuit." Purdy dedicated 10-years as a member of the governing body. "I have been out of office for two years and they (the Democrats) have done nothing but send out false mailers to the residents I served, and it is now hurting my businesses and my family."
