enforcement agencies, continue the investigation of the police-involved shooting that occurred early this morning in Atlantic City, and resulted in the death of one man, and the critical injury and hospitalization of an Atlantic City Police Officer, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton announced.
On Saturday, September 3, 1016 at 2:34 a.m., two uniformed Atlantic City police officers exited their patrol vehicle to approach a group of individuals engaged in criminal activity. One officer was shot and injured as he exited the vehicle. The second officer returned fire and struck at least one of the suspects. The suspects fled in different directions, with one suspect hit. That suspect was located about 11⁄2 blocks away on Missouri and Pacific Avenues, collapsed and deceased. Five suspects and/or persons of interest are still at large.
The injured officer is out of surgery and remains in critical condition.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office is leading the investigation of the officer- involved shooting and coordinating the search for the fugitive suspects with the assistance of the Atlantic City Police Department, the New Jersey State Police, the FBI, and the Pleasantville, Galloway, and Hammonton Police Departments.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Law enforcement is seeking information regarding the identities of the six men.
The first group appears to be 3 black males wearing, from left to right: a white shirt, a light-colored shirt, and a dark shirt—the man in the dark shirt appears to be taller than the other two men.
The second group appears to be 3 black males, the one to the right wearing a dark sweatshirt with the words “Atlantic City” on the front, the other two men wearing baseball hats.
