ATLANTIC CITY – The man shot and killed earlier today in a domestic related incident at the “The Walk” has been identified, Atlantic County Acting Prosecutor Diane M. Ruberton announced.
The Atlantic City Police Department, the New Jersey State Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office responded to “The Walk,” at approximately 12:00 p.m. today, Sept. 1, 2016, where a man was discovered shot in the Zumiez Store at The Walk. The male was transported to the Atlantic Care Regional Medical Center, City Division where he was pronounced dead.
The victim has been identified as Christopher Romero, age 26 of Absecon, NJ. Next of kin have been notified.
The shooter, who fled the scene, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and he is identified as Lewis Maisonet, age 55 of Somers Point, NJ. Maisonet remains hospitalized in critical condition.
The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department continue to investigate the matter and no additional details are being released at this time.
