8-year Long Investigation Results in Murder Charges for EHT Woman

EGG HARBOR TWP. — An Egg Harbor Township woman was indicted and arrested yesterday for the 2006 murder of her boyfriend, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

An 8-year investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit led to the arrest yesterday of Eileen Leone, 43, of the 8000 block of Atlantic Avenue, Margate, NJ, charged with murder for the June 2006 bludgeoning death of her boyfriend, Darius Smith, then 32, inside the Egg Harbor Township home that they shared with their 4-year-old child.

Pleasantville Man Sentenced to 20-years in Prison for Fatal Shooting

MAYS LANDING – A Pleasantville man pled guilty today to aggravated manslaughter in connection with the fatal shooting of a Pleasantville man in 2010, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

On Tuesday, Sept. 9, Jerome A. Byrd, 30, of East Merion Avenue, Pleasantville, NJ, entered a guilty plea to the charge of aggravated manslaughter for the killing of Scott Godfrey, 21, of Pleasantville.

On May 10, 2010 at 9:18 p.m., Pleasantville police responded to 29 West Park Avenue for a report of a man shot outside a convenience store. Upon arrival, Godfrey was found dead from apparent gunshot wounds. Godfrey was pronounced dead at 9:35 p.m. via telemetry by Dr. Eric Wolk, of the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.

Galloway Township Police Captain Retires After 25-years of Service

Galloway Township Police Captain Allan Kane has retired after twenty-five years of service. 

Kane, who retired on September 1, 2014, received a Certificate of Appreciation at tonight's Council Meeting for his long and dedicated service to the Galloway Township Police Department, the Township's Facebook stated. 

Police Chief Patrick Moran and Mayor Don Purdy presented Kane with a plaque and his retirement badge. 

Kane graduated from the Atlantic County Police Academy ranked first in his class. Kane was promoted to Sergeant in 1994; Lieutenant in 2001 and Captain in 2010. 

Police Involved Shooting in Atlantic City Investigated by Prosecutors Office; Suspect Dead

ATLANTIC CITY – A response by Atlantic City Police shortly before 1 p.m. today to reports of multiple gunshots resulted in the fatal shooting of an Atlantic City man by police, said Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit was immediately notified by the Atlantic City Police Department of an officer-involved shooting, and responded to the scene to investigate.
