Galloway Man Arrested for the Armed Robbery of Smithville Gas Station

On Wednesday, September 29th, 2015 at approximately 2140 hours, officers responded to Spirit Gas Station located at 14 S. New York Road in Smithville, for the report of an armed robbery.  

The suspect reportedly brandished a “long gun” and demanded the gas attendant give him cash. After receiving approx $100 in cash, the suspect fled from the scene.

A three month investigation led to today’s arrest of Brian S. Gill Jr., 25 of Galloway and the recovery of a Stevens model 320  12 gauge shotgun, which was used in the commission of the crime.

Gill was charged with Armed Robbery (1st degree), Possession of a weapon (2nd degree), Possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (2nd degree), and Certain persons not to possess weapons (4th degree).

JMC Howard Freed set bail at $150,000 full cash. Gill was lodged at Atlantic County Justice Facility in lieu of bail.


The Investigating officer was Galloway Township Police Detective Jason Kiamos.
