Serious Car Accident Sends Two to the Hospital; Dog Rescued

On July 30, 2020 at 6:55 a.m. a serious motor vehicle collision occurred within the intersection of Jimmie Leeds Rd and Chris Gaupp Dr. 

A 2013 Acura driven by Bonnie Schmidt, 72 of Galloway attempted a left turn from Jimmie Leeds Rd onto Chris Gaupp Drive as a 2013 Chevy driven by Brandy Armpriester, 29 of Galloway proceeded straight through the green signaled intersection. The impact caused the Chevy to overturn and come to rest within the intersection. Armpriester was entrapped within her vehicle. Officers on scene were able to rescue a dog that was located inside the overturned vehicle. 

Pomona and Bayview Fire Departments responded to the scene and extricated Armpriester from the overturned Chevy. Both drivers were taken to Atlanticare – Mainland Division for non-life threating injuries. Schmidt was issued a summons for failure to yield the right of way at an intersection. 

The intersection was partially shut down for approximately an hour while extrication and the investigation was conducted.
