Absecon Man Arrested for Car Burglary in Galloway Township

On Saturday, July 25, 2020 at approximately 2:35 a.m., the Galloway Township Police Department received a 911 call, from a resident of Donegal Lane, who was reporting a burglary in progress.  

The caller stated he observed a male subject walking through the neighborhood attempting to enter several vehicles that were parked at various residences.  The caller remained on the phone with police until he lost sight of the suspect as the suspect walked towards Irish Lane.

Galloway Man Arrested on Burglary & Theft Charges Confesses

On Tuesday, February 26, 2019, officers of the Galloway Township Police Department, Criminal Investigations Division arrested Michael R. Williams, 30 of Galloway Township, on charges of Burglary and Theft.  

The arrest of Williams stems from an investigation of an incident originally reported on February 20, 2019.  The homeowner of 154 S. Genoa Ave. reported a burglary to a detached garage.  

Entry was forced into the locked garage and several Snap-On tools, valued at approximately $2,000 along with two Echo leaf blowers, valued at approximately $300 were stolen.  The leaf blowers were recovered the next day, after a neighbor reported finding them in the woods, near the property.  

Motor Vehicle Stop Leads to Gun and Drug Charges on Two Galloway Men

On November 1, 2018 at 1:20 A.M., K-9 Ofc. Lopez conducted a motor vehicle stop on Great Creek Road.  The vehicle was occupied by Russell E. Clark 4^th, and Isiah X. Tolbert, both of Galloway Township.  During the course of a probable cause search, Tolbert was found to be in possession of a handgun loaded with hollow point ammunition.  A search of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of suspected marijuana. 

Tolbert was charged with unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of hollow point bullets and possession of marijuana under 50 grams.  A warrant was authorized by JMC Freed and Tolbert was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.  

Galloway Police Investigate Shooting; Investigation Ongoing

The Galloway Township Police Department is investigating a shooting which occurred in the area of Greenwich Drive and Collins Road.  The incident occurred on October 31, 2018, at approximately 2:45 PM.

The 20-year-old victim sustained a gunshot wound while seated in his vehicle.  He was driven to a local hospital for treatment of a non-life threatening injury.

There have been no arrests at this time and the shooting is currently under investigation.  Anyone with any information related to this incident is asked to call Det. Dominic Fabrizio at 609-652-3705 x325.  

Galloway Man Arrested for Sexually Assaulting a Child

On October 22, 2018, a Galloway Township man has been arrested and charged with sexually assaulting a child under the age of 13.  

Joseph Luna, 30, was arrested at the Atlantic County Superior Court in Atlantic City as a result of an extensive investigation.  He was charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault, Sexual Assault, Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Showing Obscene Materials to a Child.  He was lodged at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

The investigation was handled by Det. Matthew Worth and DSFC John Kelly of the Criminal Investigations Division.  The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office assisted with the investigation and the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest.

Galloway Man Critical Injured After Striking Pole

On September 4, 2018, Galloway Township Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle. 

James P. Ireland Jr. 36, of Galloway, was driving his 1997 Kawasaki motorcycle northbound on New York Road when he failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway to the right, striking a sign and utility pole.  

Ireland was transported to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center – City  Division, in critical condition. Galloway Twp. Ambulance Squad, AtlantiCare Medics, Bayview Volunteer Fire Company assisted in the accident. Accident is under investigation.

Burglary Suspects Surrender to Galloway Police After Standoff

On August 6, 2018 at 10:01 a.m., the Galloway Township Police Department responded to the area of Jupiter Hills Lane in reference to a 911 phone call reporting an armed robbery.  

Upon arriving at the scene, police spoke to the 18 year old victim who indicated that he was just robbed at gunpoint and knifepoint at one of the local residences.  Police surrounded the suspect residence, and after a standoff which last approximately one hour the suspects peacefully surrendered to police.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence which recovered additional evidence related to the robbery.  A small portion of Jupiter Hills Lane was shut down for several hours while police conducted the investigation.

John C. Andriotis, 36 of Galloway and Tyrell A. Gist, 21 of Atlantic City were charged with numerous offenses including robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance.  

Gist was additionally charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute.  

Both Andriotis and Gist were lodged in The Atlantic County Justice Facility on the listed charges.

Two Injured in Motor Vehicle Collision After Driver Runs Stop Sign

On June 26, 2018 at 9:59 p.m., a 2009 Honda, driven by Randi Dellova of Barnegat, NJ was traveling north on Seaview Avenue when she disregarded a stop sign for Jimmie Leeds Road. 

The Honda then struck a 2013 Volvo, driven by Carl Morse of Montclair, VA as he traveled west on Jimmie Leeds Road. After impact the Honda struck a stop sign and utility pole before coming to rest. 

As a result of the Collision Dellova was entrapped in her vehicle. She was extricated by Bayview and Oceanville Fire Departments. Dellova was transported by Galloway Twp. Ambulance to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City for serious injuries. Morse sustained minor injuries and was treated on scene. 

Mays Landing Man Arrested After Trying to Elude Police; Faces Drug & Weapon Charges

On May 19, 2018 at 5:07 p.m., Galloway Police Officer Ronald Gorneau of the Department Traffic Unit conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2001 Pontiac for multiple traffic violations. 

The vehicle came to a stop in the rear of the Holiday Inn Express in Absecon at which time the driver, Rashon Purnell, 29 of Mays Landing fled the scene on foot. Officer Gorneau gave chase and successfully apprehended Purnell several blocks away. 

One Injured in Three Car Crash on Jimmie Leeds Road

On May 18, 2018 at 9:24 p.m., Galloway Township Police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving three vehicles on Jimmie Leeds Road.

According to Police, Guido Monroy, 45 of Galloway, was operating his Dodge Ram and was stopped in the westbound lane of Jimmie Leeds Road waiting to turn south onto Nectar Avenue when he was struck from behind by a Ford F150 operated by Richard Peak 3^rd, 34 of Galloway. 

Galloway Man Charged with DUI, Reckless Driving in Motor Vehicle Collision

On April 2, 2018 at 5:15 p.m., Galloway Township Police responded to a motor vehicle collision located on US Route 9 at the intersection of Biscayne Avenue.

According to Police, a Chevy Equinox, operated by Kyle Francis, 32 of Galloway, was traveling north on S. New York Road when it passed a series of vehicles in a no passing zone.  

The Equinox struck the driver’s side of the Nissan Sentra as it turned left off of S. New York Road and onto Biscayne Avenue. As a result of the crash, Michael Cramer, 40 of Galloway, was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – Mainland Campus for non life-threatening injuries. 

Galloway Police Catch Suspect Who Tried to Elude Police

On March 25, 2018 at 8:47 PM, Galloway Police Ofc. Steve Garrison initiated a motor vehicle stop on a minivan at U.S. Rt. 9 and Seaview Ridge Drive. As Ofc. Garrison approached the vehicle the driver left the scene at a high rate of speed.  

The vehicle crashed into a tree a short time later at Jimmie Leeds Road and New Leaf Court, and the unidentified driver fled into the woods.  A search with a Galloway Police K-9 and New Jersey State Police helicopter was undertaken but the suspect was not immediately apprehended.

Galloway Police Arrest Pleasantville Man After Car Stop; Drug Charges

On March 17, 2018 at 10:14 p.m., Galloway Township Police initiated a motor vehicle stop after observing several motor vehicle violations. 

K-9 Officer Brent Lopez initiated a stop on the involved vehicle which had pulled into the Wawa located at 241 E. White Horse Pike.  

The driver, identified as Omar Taylor, 36, of Pleasantville, was arrested for unrelated warrants.  Further investigation by Ofc. Lopez with the assistance of his partner, K-9 Colt, resulted in the seizure of over 230 grams of marijuana as well as packaging materials.

Galloway Woman Injured After Striking Utility Pole in Single Vehicle Accident

On Friday March 16, 2018 at approximately 2:48 p.m., Galloway Township Police Department responded to the area of Route 9 and Leeds Point Road for a report of a motor vehicle collision with a utility pole down.  

Upon arrival, the collision was located in front of 148 S. New York Road.  It was then determined that a 2011 Dodge Durango, being operated by Cynthia M. Verderber, 42 of Galloway, southbound on Route 9, left the roadway and struck a utility pole.  

Verderber’s vehicle continued off of the roadway and into the wooded area until coming to rest after striking a tree.  Verderber was transported to ARMC Mainland for non-life threatening injuries.  Verderber was not wearing her seatbelt at the time of the collision. 

Galloway Ambulance Involved in Motor Vehicle Collision; Multiple Injuries

On Friday March 16, 2018 at approximately 1:38 p.m., Galloway Township Police Department responded to the area of 436 Chris Gaupp Drive for a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a Galloway Township Ambulance Vehicle.  

Upon arrival, it was determined that a 2012 Ford F250 Galloway Township Ambulance Squad vehicle, operated by Raymond J. Adams, 46, of Pleasantville with Stacey M. Rodenas, 31 of Galloway, as a front seat passenger, was traveling northbound on Chris Gaupp Drive.  

Egg Harbor City Man Injured After Vehicle Strikes Guardrail, Overturns

On Sunday March 4, 2018 at approximately 8:00 p.m., Galloway Twp. Police Department responded to the area of Duerer St. and Berlin Ave. for a report of a motor vehicle collision with an overturned vehicle.  

Upon arrival, it was determined that a 2003 Ford Ranger, being operated by Melvin C. Taylor, 58 of Egg Harbor City was traveling eastbound on Duerer St., just east of Berlin Ave.  Taylor’s vehicle left the roadway and struck a guardrail.  

Taylors vehicle then overturned, coming to rest on the roof in the middle of Duerer St.  Taylor was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the collision.  Taylor was extricated from the vehicle by members of the Egg Harbor City and Germania Fire Departments.  

Galloway Police Arrest Alleged Arsonist; Charged With Attempted Aggravated Arson

On Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at 6:34 P.M., a white male suspect approached the front lobby of the Galloway Township Police Department. 

After loitering outside the lobby for a brief time the suspect produced a glass bottle containing petroleum based accelerant, attempted to light it, and threw it on the concrete in front of the entrance doors. 

The bottle shattered and splashed the accelerant all over the doors, floor mats and lobby entrance. Although the contents of the bottle did not ignite there was an officer and a citizen in the lobby at the time.  If the accelerant had ignited the officer and citizen would have been put in life-threatening danger. 

Galloway Bank Robbers Caught, Arrested in New York City

On January 24, 2018, the Galloway Township Police Department responded to the Wells Fargo Bank located at 273 W. White Horse Pike for a robbery.  A check of the area by numerous officers from Galloway Township and surrounding jurisdictions was undertaken but the suspect was not immediately located.

As a result of a joint investigation involving the Galloway Township Police Department, Stafford Township Police Department, the New York Police Department, and the New Jersey and New York offices of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, two suspects were identified, located, and arrested in connection with multiple bank robberies in the New York and New Jersey Area.

Accidental Discharge of Firearm Leaves One Injured with Self Inflicted Wound

On Saturday, January 27, 2018, at approximately 6:48 p.m., Galloway Township Police were dispatched to a residence on the 500 block of South Pitney Road for the report of a shooting.  

Upon arrival, police located the victim and determined it was a self inflicted wound as a result of the accidental discharge of a .357 Sig caliber handgun, owned by the victim. 

Police applied a tourniquet to control bleeding and the victim was transported via Galloway Township Ambulance Squad, accompanied by AtlantiCare Paramedics, to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center – City Division with non life-threatening injuries.
