Search Warrant Results in EHT Man Charged on Multiple Drug and Weapon Offenses

MAYS LANDING– An Egg Harbor Township man was charged with multiple drug charges, including drug manufacturing and weapons charges after the execution of a search warrant at an Egg Harbor Township hotel room, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

EHT Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Attempted Murder

MAYS LANDING – A 29-year-old Egg Harbor Township man was sentenced to twenty (20) years in prison today for the 2013 attempted murder, in connection with home invasion robbery, against a 92-year old Egg Harbor Township man, Atlantic County Prosecutor Damon G. Tyner announced.

On Dec. 17, 2013, at approximately 8:52 a.m., Egg Harbor Township police responded to a residence in Tower East Mobile Home Park, in the Cardiff section of the township, and found Charles Sweetman suffering from stab wounds. Sweetman was treated at the scene by members of the EHT Ambulance Squad and AtlantiCare Paramedics, and transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center—City Campus Trauma Center for treatment.

Sweetman’s vehicle was stolen from the scene by the perpetrator.

Galloway Man Arrested in EHT for Vehicle Burglary

On Sunday, January 1, 2017, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to a London Court Condos, in the Farmington section of the township, in reference to a vehicle burglary. 

Witnesses saw the suspect inside of a unlocked vehicle, gave a description and a direction the suspect was heading. Officers Christopher Berry and Paul Janetta located the suspect and took him into custody.

Arrested was Andrew Watts, 31 years of age from Galloway Township. He was charged with Burglary, Theft and Possession of drug paraphernalia. A warrant was authorized by Municipal Court Judge Nehmad and Watts was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.

Galloway and Egg Harbor Township Man Charged with Murder in Shooting Death

ATLANTIC CITY – Two men were charged and arrested this week for the shooting death in Atlantic City of a Mays Landing man on Monday of last week, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

In response to a 9-1-1 call, Atlantic City Police and emergency medical personnel responded on Monday, December 21, 2015 at 10:45 p.m. to the Baymont Inn & Suites Atlantic City Madison Hotel on the 100 block of Martin Luther King Boulevard, for a report of a man found injured. Upon arrival, police found Devonte Molley, 23, of Grant Avenue, Mays Landing, NJ, bleeding from an injury to his abdomen.

EHT Man Faces Attempted Murder Charges; Criminal Charges in 2013 Home Invasion Robbery

ATLANTIC COUNTY— An Egg Harbor Township man was indicted last week for attempted murder and 9 additional criminal counts, in connection with a home invasion robbery committed against a 92-year-old man EHT man in 2013, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

On Wednesday, February 18, 2015, an Atlantic County Grand Jury indicted Robert J. Bilhardt, 26, of the Tower East Mobile Home Park, Tremont Avenue, Egg Harbor Township, ten (10) criminal counts in connection with the December 2013 home invasion robbery of Charles Sweetman, then 92-years-old, a resident of the same community.

Egg Harbor Township Police have released their Police Blotter for the week of February 4, 2015 to February 11, 2015.  Arrests consist of shoplifting, DWI, drug charges, and harassment.

Joseph J. Erickson, 32, of Pleasantville was arrested Feb. 4 by Detective Scott Hiltner and Officer Curtis Ware and charged with shoplifting.

Troy S. Helduser, 38, of Egg Harbor Township was arrested Feb. 4 by Officer Brett Fair and John Beattes and charged with shoplifting.

Steven J. Adams, 42, of Egg Harbor Township was arrested Feb. 4 by Officers Joseph Coady and William Burns and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, tampering with evidence, possession of a controlled dangerous substance and failure to surrender to law enforcement. 

Egg Harbor Township Police Seek Help in Identifying Suspects in Fraud Case

On August 5, 2014, two individuals produced fraudulent NJ Driver’s Licenses, pay stubs and W2 forms in an attempt to secure a loan for $7000 at a local financial office.

EHT Police Seek Suspect in Credit Card Theft and Fraud Case

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a subject involved in a credit card theft and fraud. 

The incident took place on June 28-29, 2014 at the Rite Aid, CVS and Shoprite stores, in the Cardiff section of the township. 

The unidentified suspect obtained the victim’s credit card and then responded to the three businesses over the time span. The suspect made 5 separate purchases at the above stores, using the card, until the victim discovered it missing and had it cancelled. 

Explosive Devices, Guns Removed from Egg Harbor Township Home; Man Charged

On Wednesday evening, Egg Harbor Township Patrol Officers responded to the 100 block of Alder Avenue to investigate the report of a man with a gun threatening others. 

As police arrived on location, they learned that shots had been fired inside the residence. The suspect, sixty-six year old George L. Milner, was subsequently arrested on the front porch after a brief struggle with officers.

Egg Harbor Township Woman Receives 7-Year Sentence on Drug and Gun Charges; Husband gets 18-years

TRENTON – Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman announced that an Atlantic County woman was sentenced to state prison today on charges stemming from an investigation by the Atlantic City Violent Crime Task Force. The task force arrested the defendant and her husband in January 2013 upon executing a search warrant at their home and finding a large quantity of cocaine and an assault weapon.

Chinyere Gardner, 34, of Egg Harbor Township, was sentenced to seven years in state prison, including five years of parole ineligibility, by Superior Court Judge Michael A. Donio in Atlantic County. 

Two Men Found Dead of Gunshot Wounds in Egg Harbor Township Home; Police Investigating

EGG HARBOR TWP. – Two men were found dead of gunshot wounds in their London Court, Egg Harbor Township home this afternoon, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Egg Harbor Township Police Department are on the scene and investigating.

Release of victim names is pending notification of next-of-kin. 

Egg Harbor Twp. Police in Search of Suspects who Burglarized Home and Stole Safe

On April 20, 2014 (Easter Sunday), this agency responded to the 5000 block of Tremont Ave for a residential burglary that just occurred. It was reported that a tan or beige older model Ford Explorer backed up into the victim’s driveway. 

Two males exited the vehicle while the driver remained in the vehicle.

The two males entered the residence through the front door and carried out a deposit safe. The safe was described as an AMSEC brand top loading deposit safe with dual control key lock (pictured). It stood approximately 36 inches tall and was approximately 14 inches square. It contained a substantial amount of cash (mostly $100 bills and $50 bills). 

Four Arrested of Drug Charges After Execution of Search Warrant on Local Motel Room

On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, members of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau, with the assistance of Atlantic County SWAT and members of the Egg Harbor Township Police Department Patrol Division, executed narcotics search warrants at a room at the Economy Inn, located in the West Atlantic City section, and at a room at the Rex Motel, located in the Farmington section of the township. 

Four adults were arrested for possessing an undisclosed amount of heroin and drug paraphernalia.

Rabid Skunk Confirmed As County's First Rabies Case of 2014

A rabid skunk was recently collected from a property on Betsy Scull Road in Egg Harbor Township, making it the first confirmed case of rabies in Atlantic County this year.

The homeowner contacted the local Animal Control Officer after a dog she was pet sitting encountered a skunk in the backyard and killed it. The skunk was sent to the state lab for testing and was confirmed positive for rabies.

The victim of the home invasion robbery has been identified as Charles Sweetman, 91 years of age from Egg Harbor Township. Sweetman’s medical condition at the time of this update is critical but stable with knife wounds to the neck and chest.

Egg Harbor Township Enters Agreement to Purchase another West Atlantic City Motel

During the summer of 2009 the Township adopted the Redevelopment Plan for West Atlantic City. The adoption of the plan was a result of twenty years of planning, negotiations and meetings with various governmental agencies to adopt a redevelopment plan to transform West Atlantic City.

A component of the Redevelopment Plan is the acquisition of the obsolete motor court motels on the north side of the Black Horse Pike. These motels,in addition to being decrepit,often were the location of arrests for prostitution and drugs over the years.

On Monday, December 2, 2013, Mayor McCullough announced that the Township had reached an agreement with the owners of the Fortune Inn to acquire their motel as well as the vacant 3⁄4 acres of land adjacent to their motel. The Township Committee at their November 26, 2013 meeting introduced ordinances to purchase these properties.

Pedestrian Suffers Serious Injury After Being Struck by Vehicle; Driver Charged with Assault and DWI

On November 28, 2013, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to a pedestrian motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 10:30 pm on the Black Horse Pike at English Creek Avenue, in the Cardiff section of the township.

A 2005 Dodge Pickup operated by Michael Mitchell, 47 years of age from Williamstown, was making a left turn from South bound English Creek Avenue to eastbound Black Horse Pike when it left the roadway, struck the curb and then hit a pedestrian, Phillip Love, 31 years of age from Philadelphia Pennsylvania, was waiting at the bus stop when he was struck. Mitchell’s vehicle became disabled a short distance from the scene of the crash.  

Egg Harbor Township Police Search for Suspect in Late Night Armed Robbery

On Sunday, December 1, 2013, at approximately 11:40 pm, the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to the parking lot of the Penny Point Park Apartments, in the Bargaintown section of the township, in reference to a robbery. 

Officer Michael O’Hagan responded and made contact with the victim, Terrell Pugh (20 years of age from Atlantic City), who stated he was in his vehicle in the parking lot when he was approached by the suspect.
