BREAKING: Two Men Arrested in Connection with AC Shooting of Police Officer; All Five Located and Identified

ATLANTIC CITY – Two Cumberland County men were arrested today in connection with a shooting early this morning in Atlantic City that resulted in the death of one man, and the shooting and hospitalization of an Atlantic City Police Officer, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton announced.

Investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office and assisting agencies revealed that on Saturday, September 3, 2016, at 2:34 a.m., two uniformed Atlantic City police officers on patrol observed a robbery in progress being committed near the Caesars Atlantic City parking garage on Arkansas Avenue.

The officers observed a group of 6 males. As one Atlantic City police officer exited the vehicle he was shot and injured. The second police officer returned fire, hitting one suspect, who fled the scene. All other persons involved in the robbery also fled the scene in different directions. The suspect who had been shot was located approximately 11⁄2 blocks away, on Missouri and Pacific Avenues, collapsed and deceased.

The police officer was treated at the scene by responding emergency medical personnel, and transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center—City Division, where he remains, in critical condition.

Former AC Cop Convicted of Official Misconduct, Theft and Tax Fraud

MAYS LANDING – A former 12-year veteran of the Atlantic City Police Department has been convicted for official misconduct, theft, and tax fraud Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced today.

In March of 2012, Atlantic City Police Officer Michael L. Jones, now 41 of Atlantic City, was arrested for official misconduct and theft by deception. He was processed and released on his own recognizance.

Prior to the arrest, the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Public Corruption Task Force, the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Official Corruption Unit and the State of New Jersey Department of Treasury, Division of Taxation Office of Criminal Investigation initiated a joint investigation after learning that Officer Jones’ lease in Stanley Holmes Village was terminated by the Atlantic City Housing Authority for failure to comply with the terms of the Live-In Police Officer Program.

Atlantic City Police Officer Pled Guilty to Official Misconduct; Sexual Assault on Teenager

MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City Police officer pled guilty today to official misconduct for exploiting his position as a police officer in order to sexually assault a child, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

On Monday, May 19, 2014, as a result of an investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, with the assistance of the Atlantic City Police Department, Atlantic City Police officer Andre L. Corbin, 44, of Northridge Drive, Mays Landing, was arrested without incident in Atlantic City.

Atlantic County Cops Charges with Official Misconduct and Sexual Assault of 16-year-old Girl

ATLANTIC COUNTY —Two police officers employed by municipal police departments of Atlantic County were arrested yesterday for separate and independent acts of official misconduct and child sexual assault, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

An investigation of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit, assisted by the Brigantine Police Department, resulted in the arrest Monday, May 19, 2014, of Brigantine Police Officer Ralph M. Pereira, 43, of the 5000 block of Ontario Avenue, Brigantine, NJ.

Police Pursuit from Pleasantville to Atlantic City Results in Gunfire; Suspect Killed

ATLANTIC CITY – A police pursuit that began in Pleasantville ended this afternoon in Atlantic City with an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and police, and the death of the suspect, said Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit immediately responded to the scene to investigate the shooting.
