EHT Man Arrested After Search Warrant Leads to Drug Bust

 On Friday, October 27, 2017, in response to a citizen complaint of drug activity, the Absecon Police Department Detective Bureau and Patrol Division executed a search warrant at an apartment in the Clayton Mill Run Apartment Complex on S. New Road across from Holy Spirit High School. 

A search of the apartment yielded approximately 3 kilograms (106 ounces) of suspected heroin, 3 ounces of suspected cocaine and numerous items of drug paraphernalia associated with the manufacturing, packaging and distribution of controlled dangerous substances. 

Absecon Police Seize Gun, Cash and Drugs After Traffic Stop

On Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 12:50 AM, Absecon Police Department Class II Officer Andrew Morgan conducted a motor vehicle stop in front of the Hi Point Pub at the intersection of the White Horse Pike and Shore Road. 

The vehicle was occupied by the following four males: Yvon A. Desus Jr. of Galloway, Zayd Scott and Abdul Brown of Mays Landing, and Raymond Harris of Northfield. 

Absecon Police Officer’s J. Mazer, A. Southrey, D. Markman and K. Epstein arrived on scene. 

Subsequent to a motor vehicle search, the officers seized a large quantity of Marijuana, several packages of liquid Codeine, a large amount of cash, and a loaded 9mm handgun. 

Two Arrested After Fleeing from ShopRite Management and Ran into Absecon Patrol

On Friday, December 16, 2016 at 10:20am two male subjects, Lenny and Kenny Stewart, allegedly stole numerous packages of bar soap from the front entrance display shelf of Shoprite. 

The brothers ran from the store and from management without paying. The accused males ran directly towards an Absecon Patrol unit that was in the parking lot at the time regarding a separate incident. 

Lenny was taken into custody by Ptl. Cavileer without incident. Kenny continued to run, but ran directly to Ptl. Williams who was patrolling in the Rite Aid parking lot. After briefly attempting to flee from Ptl. Williams, Kenny was taken into custody. 

Galloway Resident Charged with Possession of Stolen Vehicle

On Saturday, December 10, 2016 at 10:50am the Absecon Police Department received information that a stolen 1997 Nissan Maxima could possibly be coming into Absecon. The vehicle had been reported stolen the night before in Pleasantville. 

Patrol units observed the accused vehicle traveling east on Rt. 30 in the area of Shore Rd. A motor vehicle stop was conducted on the vehicle and both occupants were taken into custody. 

The driver, Marcel Johnson Jr. of Pleasantville, was charged with being in possession of a stolen vehicle. He was lodged into Atlantic County Jail on $10,000.00 bail. 

Pleasantville Man Arrested During Residential Burglary in Absecon

On Wednesday November 5th 2016, the Absecon Police Department received a call in reference to a burglary in progress on Ohio Avenue. The homeowner reported that upon returning home, they encountered two males inside their residence. 

The males retreated from the home and the homeowner gave chase. The homeowner, along with other family members, were able to capture and detain one of the subjects. The second subject fled the area. 

Jean K Octavius, 29, of Pleasantville, was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal mischief and terroristic threats. He was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $50,000 bail. The second subject was not located. There were no reported injuries during this incident. 

TD Bank in Absecon Robbed; Police Seek Identity of Suspect

On July 28, 2016 at 4:30 p.m. Absecon Police responded to the TD Bank on the White Horse Pike in Absecon for a robbery. The suspect entered the TD Bank and demanded money from the teller after threatening her with a weapon. 

The suspect fled on foot down Mill Road. Investigators from Absecon Police Department and the F.B.I are investigating.

Driver Arrested After Single Motor Vehicle Accident in Absecon

On April 7th, 2016 at approximately 4:40 AM, Absecon Police responded westbound on Absecon Boulevard and Turner Avenue for a single car motor vehicle accident. 

While en route police communications advised responding units the vehicle was overturned and in the roadway. 

Upon patrols arrival the driver later identified as, Bianca Pizarro-Chicas was still inside the vehicle with a traffic light standard down across the roadway. Officers with the assistance of the witness to the accident were able to remove Ms. Pizarro-Chicas from the vehicle. 

Pedestrian Struck on White Horse Pike in Absecon

On Saturday, December 12, 2015 at approximately 5:54 PM, members of the Absecon Police Department responded to the intersection of Mill Road and the White Horse Pike (Route 30) for a pedestrian motor vehicle crash. 

The pedestrian, Kathleen Norman, a 58 year old female from Pleasantville, was crossing the intersection when she was struck by a Chevrolet Silverado, operated by Daniel Caffrey, a 57 year old male from Absecon. 

Caffrey was negotiating a left turn from S. Mill Road to the White Horse Pike when the crash occurred. 

One Injured After Striking Utility Pole in Single Motor Vehicle Accident

The Absecon Police Department was dispatched to a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at 8:40pm on Rt. 30 in the area of the Bayview Motel. 

The police department is investigating the single motor vehicle crash where the vehicle struck a utility pole. 

Witness accounts show the vehicle driving erratically and at a high rate of speed before the crash. The utility pole was broken into three pieces from the impact and the vehicle was torn into two pieces. 

Four Arrested in Shoplifting Incident at Home Depot

On Saturday, October 31, 2015 at approximately 1:20 p.m. Absecon Police officers were called to The Home Depot, 421 Absecon Blvd., in response to a shoplifting incident in which the accused individuals were assaulting store employees in an attempt to get away. 

When officers arrived it was learned that four people had fled in a black Chevy Tahoe heading east on Route 30 toward Atlantic City. 

Patrol officers located the vehicle stopped in traffic at the base of the Route 30 drawbridge due to the bridge being opened for boat traffic. 

As officers approached the Tahoe they observed a male passenger exit the vehicle and flee on foot into the marsh near the bridge. The Tahoe then drove around the traffic-control gates and through a red traffic signal on the bridge just as the bridge was being closed. 

A short time later Patrolman Jeff Mazer located the Tahoe cutting through several side streets. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and three occupants in the vehicle were arrested; Pornthip "Annie" Charoensook, 35, of Galloway Township, Barry Hardaway, 28, of Atlantic City, and Kelly Whalen, 27, of Atlantic City. 

Atlantic City Police officers assisted with the traffic stop and also located the male subject who fled from the vehicle while stopped at the bridge. This male, Augustine Delvalle, 26, of Galloway Township was arrested. 

Augustine Delvalle was charged with robbery, shoplifting, conspiracy, eluding, and assault. His bail was set at $100,000.00 full and he was lodged in the county jail. 

Pornthip "Annie" Charoensook was charged with conspiracy to commit shoplifting and eluding. Her bail was set at $50,000.00 full and she was lodged in the county jail. 

Barry Hardaway and Kelly Whalen were each charged with conspiracy to commit shoplifting and released on summonses to appear in court.

Good Samaritan's Vehicle Stolen After Stopping to Help Motorist

On November 1, 2015 at approximately 7:00 a.m., a black male operating a Blue Buick traveling West on US Rt 30 struck a motor vehicle and continued on. 

The vehicle then collided with the concrete barrier and became disabled in the lane of travel. A "Good Samaritan" stopped to assist. 

The driver of the Buick then stole the "Good Samaritan's" vehicle by jumping into the driver's seat and fleeing the area.

Driver, Passenger Arrested on Drug Charges after Attempting to Elude Police

On Saturday, September 12th, 2015 at approximately 6:18 pm, Officers Williams and Officer Imberti of the Absecon Police Department conducted a motor vehicle stop on a red 2014 Nissan Altima in the area of Huron Ave. and W. Wyoming Ave. 

The vehicle and its occupants were detained due to suspicious activity. The investigation revealed that the rear passenger was in possession of CDS paraphernalia. 

As the rear passenger, identified as Matthew Heath of Absecon, was being placed into custody, the driver of the red Nissan suddenly sped away from the scene. Other police units were able to follow the vehicle as it sped southbound towards W. Church St. The driver attempted to make a left turn on W. Church St., at a high rate of speed, causing the vehicle to lose control and strike a curb. 

Enforcement Detail in Absecon Resulted in Several Arrests

On Friday, September 11, 2015 the Absecon Police Department Detective Bureau initiated an operation to address safety concerns on the White Horse Pike, as well as illegal drug activity in several areas in the city. 

Detectives and plain clothes officers targeted problem areas and conducted surveillance looking for pedestrian and bicyclist violations. These include pedestrians improperly crossing the White Horse Pike, jumping across the concrete barrier, as well as other dangerous and illegal activity. 

It also included, among others, bicycles operating in the dark without proper safety equipment. The operation was in response to numerous fatal accidents involving pedestrians in Absecon as well as other towns in Atlantic County. 

Galloway Man Arrested for Multiple Burglaries in Absecon

On Thursday August 27th 2015, the Absecon Police Department received a call for a discovered burglary and theft on New York Avenue. 

After an investigation, it was discovered that the accused subject was Scott M. Boucher, 30, of Galloway Township. Boucher was arrested that day by Detective Mitch Levin and charged with burglary and theft. 

He was later transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. 

Local Barber Shop Robbed; Police Search for Suspect

On Saturday August 29, 2015 at approximately 3:50 pm, the Absecon Police Department responded to a robbery at 129 New Jersey Avenue (Olivia’s Barber Shop). 

The witnesses advised that a white male standing at approximately six foot three inches with a skinny build, wearing a beige baseball cap, blond curly hair, a black hoodie, black sunglasses, and dark colored pants entered the store through the front door and immediately reached over the counter grabbing the cash draw. 

The male proceeded to take the draw and fled the store on foot. The male was last seen running north in the wooded area towards the cemetery on church street. 

Child Abducted, Recovered in Absecon; Female Charged With Being a Fugitive, Kidnapping

On August 2, 2015 at 11:45 pm Absecon Police and Atlantic City detectives acted on information obtained through the day that an abducted child out of West Virginia was tracked to Holiday Inn Express located at 655 White Horse Pike. 

After the suspects initially refused to answer the hotel room door several rooms on the 3rd floor were evacuated. The occupants of the accused room were eventually negotiated with over the phone and exited the room to be taken into custody. 

Absecon Police Investigating Two Commercial Burglaries

On Saturday July 29th 2015, the Absecon Police Department handled two separate commercial burglaries. 

During the early morning hours, two subjects forcibly entered the Absecon Dunkin' Donuts and removed two cash registers from the business. 

Dunkin' Suspect 1 - Light skinned male wearing a sweatshirt which consists of a solid white back and solid black front. It also has a black stripe down each sleeve. The male also is wearing black Nike sneakers and a partial face mask. 

Two Arrested in Connection with Motor Vehicle Theft out of Absecon

On Wednesday, July 8th 2015, Absecon Police received a report of a stolen vehicle from the Absecon Center shopping complex. The victim stated that his 2009 Toyota Camry was stolen from the rear of his business. Absecon Police checked the area but could not locate the stolen vehicle. 

On Thursday July 9th 2015, a resident of Hamilton Township called police in regards to suspicious activity in a residential development. The caller informed Hamilton Township Police that a subject appeared to be attempting to enter parked, unoccupied vehicles. 

Investigation Leads to Drug Charges for Galloway Man

Absecon Police Detectives where investigating narcotics activity and conducting surveillance in several areas of the city on Friday night. 

During the investigation a male was observed loitering on private property and acting suspicious. The suspect was identified as Jonathan A Baake, age 30 of Galloway Township. 

As a result of a brief investigation, the suspect was arrested by Detectives Gadd, Levin, and Huenke and charged with possession of a hypodermic syringe, possession of narcotics paraphernalia, as well as loitering in an area with the purpose to obtain a controlled dangerous substance. 

Two Injured in Single Car Crash; Passengers Fled Scene

On June 18, 2015 at approximately 12:36PM, the Absecon Police Department responded to a single car motor vehicle crash that occurred on the Delilah Road on-ramp just west of Route 30. The vehicle, a 2004 Ford Taurus, was operated by Glenn Lowe of Bridgeton, NJ. 

The initial investigation revealed the operator lost control of the vehicle as he negotiated the ramp. The vehicle ran off the roadway and struck the guardrail attenuator. The impact caused the vehicle to spin, which later came to rest in the embankment. 

The operator and front seat passenger were extricated from the vehicle by the Atlantic City Fire Department. Both were transported to AtlantiCare – City Division, for non-life threatening injuries.
