Increase in Burglaries Prompts Absecon Police to Warn Residents

The Absecon Police Department has seen a recent increase of residential burglaries. In a two week period from June 15th until June 29th, the Absecon Police Department has taken six reports of homes, sheds and campers being burglarized and items taken. 

Most of the burglaries are occurring off of Shore Rd. They are also occurring during all times of the day. The burglaries have occurred on California Ave, E. Lee Ave, North Shore and two on Berkley Ave. 

Galloway Man Receives Serious Injuries After Early Morning Crash; Second Driver Charged with DWI

On June 29, 2014 at 3:59 a.m., Galloway Township Police responded to a serious motor vehicle accident that occurred on the White Horse Pike (RT30) at Mannheim Ave.  

Two vehicles were involved and both were traveling east bound on Rt.30. Both vehicles struck utility poles causing Rt. 30 (east bound lanes) to be shut down for over five (5) hours.  

The first vehicle was a 1998 Toyota RAV 4 and was operated by a 24 year-old male from Galloway Township. He was transported by an ambulance to Atlanticare Medical Center, City Division with serious injuries.  

Green Dot Scammer Uses Absecon Police Identity to Get $500 From Resident

On June 27, 2014 at approximately 5:30 PM a resident from the Oyster Bay Development received a call from a male posing as an IRS agent. The caller left a voice mail message and advised the victim that if he did pay $500.00 via a Green Dot Card he would be arrested for back taxes. The victim did not respond to this call. 

A short time later the victim received a second call from a male advising the victim that he was an Officer with the Absecon Police Department and the victim had an active warrant due to the back taxes not being paid. The victim then put $500.00 on the Green Dot Card and forwarded the money to have the warrant recalled. 

Single Motor Vehicle Accident Knocks Out Power, Shuts Down Delilah Road; Driver Charged With DWI

On June 28, 2014 at approximately 2:23 AM the Absecon Police Department responded to a serious motor vehicle accident involving one automobile that took out an electric pole to the East bound ramp of Delilah Road to Absecon Blvd (Rt 30).

Byron L. White, age 32 of Newtonville was traveling east on Delilah Road when he failed to negotiate the bend to the ramp that leads to Absecon Boulevard, (Rt 30) east bound to Atlantic City. 

White was driving a Toyota Avalon and lost control of the vehicle and struck an Atlantic City Electric Pole knocking it down across the roadway, blocking Delilah Road. White refused medical attention at the scene. 

UPDATED: Fatal Crash in Galloway Under Investigation by Law Enforcement Agencies

Updated: Galloway Police have released the names of the individuals involved in the accident. Mary Finani, 100-years-old, of Egg Harbor City passed away due to the injuries sustained in the accident. Johnnie Finani, 66, of Egg Harbor City was the driver of the vehicle. 

Joan Price, 53, of Pittsgrove was the driver of the other vehicle. All three individuals were taken to Atlanticare regional Medical Center, City Division for treatment.

On June 27, 2014 at 6:14 p.m., Galloway Police responded to a motor vehicle crash at White Horse Pike (Rt 30) and Bremen Avenue. The two-car crash injured the driver of one vehicle and the passenger of the second vehicle.
