Christopher McManus has won the Democratic nomination as the Assembly Candidate for Legislative District 9, of which covers representation for Galloway Township.
McManus will join Peter Ferwerda III, in their quest to run against Republican Incumbents Brian Rumpf and DiAnne Gove.

Christopher McManus Biography:
I was born in California and have lived in many places around the globe in my life due to the military. My family’s constant moving would stop here in New Jersey. I have been a resident of Stafford Township since 2001 with my mother, Michelle, father, Michael, brother, Shawn, sister, Kelli, and now, our puppy, Mac. The strong figures I have been able to have in my life have molded me into the person I am today.
Furthermore, the person I am is because of the idea that if given the opportunity, we can become almost anything we want. This is evident by my family. My family was at a point in time working poor; however, we are no longer working poor because of my parents and their effort. I hope to be able to provide people with the opportunities so that they also may work toward a greener pasture.
I am a graduate of the Stafford Township School District, class of 2004 and the Southern Regional School District, class of 2010. I then went on to Ocean County College to graduate with an Associate’s degree cum laude, class of 2012. Now, I am a student at Stockton College in the Honors Program studying business.
I was a Stafford Town Council candidate in 2012, I have six years of karate experience, and I have worked since I was 12. I refereed soccer for eight years, I refereed basketball for six years, and I supervised basketball for three years. I have worked in the food industry for two years, and I interned for the Lakewood BlueClaws in 2011. In school I have been involved in mock trial, the swim team, track, cross country, and I have been a board member for the Stockton Honors Program.
I first got involved in public service because I come from a long line of military veterans and public servants. In order to do my part to contribute to the community, after high school I was planning to join the military. However, in the summer of 2010 I had major surgery which resulted in me having physical disabilities.
Since I was not able to join the military, I looked for other ways to get involved in the community. My friends and family would eventually point out to me that while my body was limited, my mind was still capable. After reflecting on this knowledge I would come to discover that I can still serve my community by getting involved in public service.
My leadership experience, judgment, and ambition will allow me to succeed in the Assembly if I am elected. I plan to bring my moderate views and cooperative mindset to Trenton to provide a voice of the people for progress because the “status quo must go”. New Jersey has a lot of needs that have to be addressed that are being neglected, such as: taxes, education, the economy, small business, and elected officials holding multiple offices. These important, yet neglected, issues will continue to be unaddressed until there is new leadership for us in the Assembly.
Galloway is new to District 9 and its residents can help be a driving force in pushing for the progress needed to bring common sense government back to this District.
