William Liepe to Serve 32-Years for 2011 Fatal Crash

MAYS LANDING – A Mays Landing man was sentenced today to 32 years in prison in connection with a 2011 fatal three-car collision that left a 9-year-old Hammonton boy dead, and a father and son seriously injured, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

On April 10, 2011, at 12:58 p.m., the Hamilton Township Police responded to Cologne Avenue, Mays Landing, for reported a three-car motor vehicle collision. The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Collision Unit also responded.

Investigation determined that William Liepe, now 62, of the 3000 block of Cologne Avenue in Mays Landing, was operating a motor vehicle south on Cologne Avenue when he rear-ended a vehicle driven by Max Guzman, 35, of Hammonton, while Guzman, with two child passengers in the car, was attempting to make a left-hand turn off Cologne Avenue to the athletic fields located behind the fire department.

Atlantic County Men Indicted on Conspiracy & Theft by Deception

ATLANTIC COUNTY —Two Atlantic County men were indicted last Thursday for conspiracy and the theft by deception of over $75,000 in cash and property, in connection with a series of fraudulent transactions committed by the men through their boat sales business, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

On Thursday, April 23, 2015, an Atlantic County Grand Jury returned a 34-count indictment against Andrew Biddle, 45, of the 100 block of Brentwood Drive, Egg Harbor Township, and Tracy Blumenstein, 49, of the 1000 block of Broad Street, Northfield, for the following crimes, involving eight (8) separate victims:

Driver Flown to Area Hospital After Striking Pole; Vehicle Overturns

On April 28, 2015 at 3:46 p.m., Galloway Township Police responded to a single motor vehicle accident on W. Duerer Street (County Rd. 561) and S. Frankfurt Avenue.

The driver, Algie Griffin, 31, of Landisville was traveling westbound on Duerer Street when the vehicle, a 2000 Chrysler Sebring Convertible, left the roadway and struck a utility pole and overturned. 

The driver which was the sole occupant of the vehicle was flown to Atlantic City Medical Center, City Division, for his injuries.

UPDATED: Galloway Man Charged with Killing Father; Homicide Investigation in Galloway

UPDATED: MAYS LANDING - Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain authorized the charge of murder today against James Sopuch, Jr., 29, of 96 Trotter’s Lane, for the killing of his father, James Sopuch, two days ago.

Sopuch was served the warrant complaint in the Atlantic County Justice Facility by Detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit. Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Kyran Connor set bail at $1,000,000 full cash.

GALLOWAY TWP – A 60-year-old Galloway Township man was found dead in his home late last night, and his son has been charged with aggravated assault, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
