Galloway Police Catch and Arrest Burglary Suspect

On February 19, 2017, at approx 12:46 pm, a resident alerted Galloway Township Police to the noises of someone possibly burglarizing his neighbor’s home on Ridgewood Avenue.  

Patrol arrived and confirmed the house had been burglarized however the suspect had fled.  A short time later, K9 Sgt Scott Winneberger located William Ireland in the area, on 10th Avenue.  

Another burglary was eventually located on 10th Avenue as well.  Ireland was found to be in possession of stolen items from the burglarized residence.

Absecon Man Injured in Single-Vehicle Crash in Galloway

On February 17, 2017 at 11:59 a.m. Luis Vasquez of Absecon was traveling north bound on Route 9 when he lost control of his vehicle striking a utility pole at Lilly Lake Road in the Oceanville section of Galloway Township.  

Mr. Vasquez was transported to the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division by the Galloway Township Ambulance Squad with non-life threatening injuries.  

According to Police Mr. Vasquez was not wearing his seatbelt and when he was operating a 2002 Chevy Corvette at the time of the collision.

Police Investigating Shooting Death of Atlantic City Man; One Injured

ATLANTIC CITY – Law enforcement is investigating a shooting in Atlantic City last night that resulted in the death of one man and injury to another, Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Diane Ruberton announced.
Atlantic City Police responded on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 at 8:30 p.m. to the 300 block of N. South Carolina Avenue, Atlantic City, for a ShotSpotter alert and 9-1-1 report of a man shot.
Atlantic City EMS personnel and AtlanticCare paramedics also responded to the scene.

Galloway Police Seek Witness in Motor Vehicle Collision the Killed Pedestrian

On February 6, 2017 at 5:48 p.m., a pedestrian was walking in the roadway on Chris Gaupp Drive in the area of Garfield Avenue in the Pomona section of Galloway Township when he was struck. 

The pedestrian, later identified as Thomas G. Langlois, 35 of Elwood was struck by a 2007 Toyota Camry driven by Bhavin Raval, 27 of Galloway. Raval was traveling north on Chris Gaupp Drive.  

The impact to the pedestrian proved fatal and he was pronounced deceased on scene a short time later by the New Jersey Medical Examiner’s Office. The driver sustained no injuries in the collision.

Greater Egg Harbor Regional School Board and Education Association Settle Contract

After 2 ½ years of labor unrest between the Greater Egg Harbor Regional Education Association and the Greater Egg Harbor Board of Education, both parties have approved and ratified an Addendum to the prior Memorandum of Agreement resolving the remaining two issues holding up a final contract. 

Following a dispute regarding 2 provisions of a Memorandum of Agreement reached between the parties in December with the assistance  of a state appointed super-conciliator, the Association voted to ratify an Addendum to the Memorandum last Monday, January 23rd. The Board, who was to vote on the Addendum that same day at its regular Board meeting, could not do so due to a lack of a quorum. They held a special board meeting on Saturday, January 28 at which time they also approved the Addendum.
