Former Galloway Mayor Joins Stockton University Board of Trustees

Galloway, NJ – Meg Worthington, a commercial/residential real estate agent and management consultant, joined the Stockton University Board of Trustees this week. Worthington, former mayor and councilwoman of Galloway N.J., was sworn in at the university’s Feb. 24 board meeting.

Worthington is one of three new members to join the Stockton University Board of Trustees. Ellen Bailey, Esq., a member of the firm of Eckert, Seamans, Cherin and Mellott, LLC in Philadelphia, and Andy Dolce, founder and chairman emeritus of Dolce Hotels and Resorts, were also sworn in at the Feb. 24 meeting.

Atlantic City Man Found Dead in Alley Near Home; Deemed Homicide

ATLANTIC CITY – An Atlantic City man was found dead last night in Atlantic City, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
A search by officers of the Atlantic City Police Department of the area contiguous to North Ohio Avenue, Atlantic City, in response to a Shotspotter gunshot auto-detection system alert, led to the discovery at 1:27 a.m., Tuesday, February 23, 2016, of the body of an Atlantic City man.
Police found the body of Garry L. Williams, 34, of the 1100 block of North Ohio Avenue, in an alley near his home, the apparent victim of a homicide.

Atlantic City Man Guilty of Murdering Mother in 2014

MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City man pled guilty today to killing his mother in 2014, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
A 9-1-1 call received at 6:29 a.m. on October 12, 2014 prompted the response of Atlantic City Police and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit to 1812 McKinley Avenue, Atlantic City.
Upon arrival, police found the resident, Gwendolyn Pratt, 64, dead of apparent head injuries. The victim’s son, Steven Pratt, now 47, of the same address, was found at the scene and detained by police.

Atlantic City Man Charged With Murder of New York Man in Atlantic City

MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City man was charged with murder today, in connection with the death of a New York man found dead two weeks ago in Atlantic City, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
In response to a 9-1-1 call, Atlantic City Police responded on Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at 6:29 a.m. to the corner of Pennsylvania and Reading Avenues, Atlantic City, where a passerby had found the body of a man in a grassy area near the intersection.
Upon arrival, police and emergency medical responders found the man—later identified as Quinn Boyd, 25, of New York City—dead at the scene.

Galloway 911 Operator, Police, Paramedics and EMS Save Infant with CPR

On February 10, 2016 at 9:21 a.m., Galloway Township Police Communications Operator Katie Lawrence received a 9-1-1 call from a resident of the Absecon Highlands section reporting her infant was not breathing.  

The caller began CPR while Lawrence remained on the phone with her.  Communications Assistant Supervisor Ian Capp immediately dispatched Galloway Police and EMS and contacted Atlanticare Paramedics.

Galloway Woman Dies After Being Struck by Vehicle on the White Horse Pike

On February 10, 2016 at 6:50 am., the Galloway Township Police Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian on the White Horse Pike. 
According to Police both Eastbound and Westbound lanes of US #30 (White Horse Pike) were closed this morning for approximately  2.5 hours due to a Pedestrian/Motor Vehicle Accident in the area of US #30 and Poplar Avenue.  
Sushma P. Patel, 51, of Galloway, was struck while crossing the highway by a 2009 Ford Tauras X, traveling westbound - operated by Maria Rose, 52, of Absecon.

Atlantic City Man Arrested for Endangering Welfare of Child in Texas

ATLANTIC CITY – Authorities arrested an Atlantic City man yesterday morning for endangering the welfare of a child in Texas by transmitting pornographic images and videos to the child via a cellular phone, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
A three-month investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force, and the Arlington Texas Police Department resulted in the arrest yesterday morning of Sherman Miller, 48, of Oceanic Terrace, Atlantic City.
Miller was arrested at his home without incident by members of the Prosecutor’s Office, FBI, ICE, and the Atlantic City Police Department. Miller was processed for the arrest and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $50,000 full cash bail set by Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Patricia M. Wild.

New York Man Found in Grassy Area in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY – A man was found dead on February 3, 2016 in Atlantic City, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.

Galloway Township Police Department Acquires Permanent Prescription Drop Box


Today, Join Together Atlantic County (JTAC) awarded the Galloway Township Police Department with an American Medicine Chest Challenge (AMCC) permanent prescription drop box for the disposal of unused, unwanted, and expired medications. 

The box is located inside the Galloway Township Police Department at 300 East Jim Leeds Road, Galloway Township. It will be available 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Residents may contact the police department at (609)652-3705 or visit our website at www.gtpd.org  for additional information.

Atlantic City Man Sentenced in Fatal Crash of Galloway Man

MAYS LANDING – An Atlantic City man was sentenced to prison yesterday, in connection with a fatal collision in Atlantic City in 2014 that claimed the life of a Galloway man, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced.
On Monday, April 28, 2014, at approximately 3:17 a.m., members of the Atlantic City Police Department, Atlantic City Emergency Medical Services, Atlantic City Fire Department, and the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Fatal Collision Unit responded to a crash involving two motor vehicles at the intersection of Massachusetts and Grammercy Avenues in Atlantic City.
