UPDATED x2: Frank Gargione and Joseph Landicini Head to Trial on Simple Assault Charges as Mediation Talks Fail

Frank Gargione
UPDATED (Oct 12, 2013): The Court Date regarding this case has been postponed and re-scheduled for December 3, 2013 at 12:00 noon in Ventnor Municipal Court. Galloway Township News will continue to provide updates including the outcome of the trial.

UPDATED (Sept 5, 2013): The Court Date regarding these cases was postponed and re-scheduled for October 22, 2013 at 11:00am in Ventnor Municipal Court, according to Court documents. Galloway Township News will continue to provide updates including the outcome of the trial.

A scheduled mediation on August 27, 2013 in Ventnor Municipal Court was unsuccessful for Frank Gargione and Joseph Landicini, Ventnor Court confirmed. The court mediation was ordered by Judge Mary Siracusa, according to Ventnor Court.

Gargione and Landicini are both facing simple assault charges. The unsuccessful mediation has resulted in a trial for Gargione and Landicini for Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 11:00am in Ventnor Municipal Court.

Gargione, who is also a Republican Council Candidate, was officially charged with Criminal Simple Assault stemming from an alleged altercation during a youth baseball game on Sunday, June 2, 2013 in Galloway Township.

Joseph Landicini
According to the complaint filed on June 6, 2013 by the victim Joseph Landicini of Egg Harbor City, Gargione is charged with committing the offense of simple assault, specifically by shoving the victim's shoulder and shouting "get out of my face." The violation is a criminal charge of 2C:12-1A(1).

According to the Court Documents, the incident occurred on Sunday, June 2, 2013, just two days prior to Primary Election Day. The victim in the incident, Joseph Landicini of Egg Harbor City alleged Gargione assaulted him after a youth baseball game they were coaching together at the Galloway Township Athletic Association (GTAA) Baseball Fields in Galloway Township.

According to documents obtained through an Open Public Records Request, on Monday June 17, 2013, Frank Gargione filed simple assault charges against Landicini. According to the complaint Gargione alleges Landicini committed the offense "specifically by striking plaintiff (Gargione) in the chest with his hand."

Both cases were subsequently transferred to the City of Ventnor due to a potential conflict between Gargione and the Township of Galloway. Reached today, Gargione and Landicini both confirmed to GallowayTwpNews.com the simple assault charges against each other were not successfully resolved in mediation.

Gargione and Landicini are scheduled to begin trial for the alleged assault charges on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 11:00am in Ventnor Municipal Court. Both parties can attempt mediation again if they both agree.

Gargione and Landicini issued no further comment regarding the charges against each other.

Landicini's attorney, Anthony Argiropoulos, Esq., was not immediately available for comment.

Can the republicans pick a candidate who is not in legal trouble. The mayor is being investigated by the prosecutor and using people to do his dirty work. My opinion. Gargione is facing assault charges. Even if all acquitted they still can't keep their hands to themselves.

Anonymous said...

I believe Frank didn't do anything to deserve those charges. I do believe Donald Purdy is as corrupt as they come. He has had lawsuits filed against him left and right and still one coming from Steven Bonannii. He has cost the township millions of dollars while he sits behind his pretty doors of Purdy automotive. Even some of his employees that left or he fired don't like him. He needs to go either by handcuffs impeached or voted out. He swindles deals for donations. Disgusting.

Anonymous said...

How's that JIFFY money Donald. Spend it fast.

Anonymous said...

Simple solution. Don't vote for the Frank if you don't want him in. Don will never resign because he will never admit when he has fine something wrong or potentially illegal. Just don't vote for him either.

You are so naive

Didn't a similar incident occur with Landicni when he was coaching with the Galloway Renegades? Apparently he made a big scene and was removed as coach. He then took his son to Absecon to play. Maybe Frank should get witnesses from that event as well as this most recent event to show a pattern of behavior. I understand there are witnesses that say they saw Landicini physically strike Gargione. But it's fairly clear Landicini should not be coaching children. So if Landicni is found guilty it's obvious he will never coach again. Maybe the Publisher can find out what happened with Landicini and the Renegades and why he was removed as coach there.

Anonymous said...

I was a witness to this recent event and I can assure you the only person who is at fault here is Frank!

Anonymous said...

How can these men be roll models for children when they act like children. Grow up!

Appeal from a taxpayer. Don Purdy just leave. You have been nothing but negative for Galloway.

Anonymous said...

Don Purdy....I've never seen a man more disliked in my life than you! Your wife is cute though!

Have read the above article multiple times to be sure that Landicini on three occasions was named as the "victim".
Since the publisher was not present at this event, to my knowledge the publisher has not interviewed any of the witness's and the judge has not rendered a decision - could the publisher please explain how she has determined that Landicini is the "victim" in this case.
Why waste money on the trial - let's just try the case here on this website!!!

The GTAA Baseball league is littered with hot headed bloated belly (and ego's might I add) fathers who are living vicariously through their children on the field.

Fulfilling their shortcomings by taking the game way too seriously and quite frankly sucking the life out of the league. There are many others that have set poor examples of themselves in front of the kids and parents. I'm all for a competitive composure on the field. I've played ball my whole life and have continued to play in organized competitive leagues as an adult.

I'm sad to say that after one of my kids finished tee ball I have not really pushed to cultivate the interest to continue playing in the league because of the way the league is run and the select few that think it's just set up for their kids, despite their talent out on the field. Personally, I won't subscribe to the antics out there and shake my head at those making spectacles of themselves on the field. It's not becoming....for you or your kids.

This issue between these two guys is just reflective of the culture that is in that league.

It's beyond that of arguing over who's safe and who's out....and it's becoming about who's who and who are you..?..

In this case, Frank may be "out" before he ever even got started...politically speaking BUT then again...that's what this is all about isn't it....PLAY BALL!

Anonymous said...

Could not have said it better myself. If you want to know the truth about what happened that day, ask the witnesses who were seated down the first base line. If it is the lies you seek....just ask Frank!

Can we send Mayor Donald Purdy aka Don, Donnie, Don King and whatever else anyone wants to call him, to trial as well. He needs a dose of reality catch up time for the 4 years he spent in office ruining Galloway Township. Publisher, can you run a tally of how much money Don Purdy has made off the backs of tax payers?

Publisher said...

Anonymous @ 7:52pm. I will look into your request.

Anonymous said...

To the publisher - I'm sure that will be right after you look into the request of anonymous @ 10:45pm on 8/28.

Publisher said...

Anonymous @ 12:17am. I already looked into those allegations. Outcome regarding that research is ongoing and is not yet slated for any publication at this time.

Anonymous said...

Publisher - thanks for your response but I won't hold my breath for the outcome regarding your research.

Anonymous said...

I agree and understand where the Publisher is coming from. If its not a public entity than how can they research it. All of the sports in town are private organizations. We handle our own internal business. The GTAA incident here is publicized because of who is Frank Gargione is. Personally, I would never vote for Frank anyway. The conduct I have seen on and off the fields is ridiculous. As a parent, coach and public figure, he should be held to the highest standard. He is also a member of the towns Zoning Board, so he is entrenched in the politics of this town. That behavior is not acceptable by any means.

Anonymous said...

So let me get this straight...

- Landicini is kicked out of the Galloway Renegades programm for his unruly behavior as coach,

- Flies of the handle at a GTAA baseball game, yells, screams and makes a spectacle of himself, and puts his hands on his assistant coach

- Landicini is removed AGAIN as coach - this time by the GTAA.

I don't know, but from my view, Mr. Landicini has anger management issues and should not be allowed to coach again! Sounds like he's burned his bridges in Galloway, so that is a start.

To the publisher, Anonymous 8/30 @ 11:19 is right...you don't need to do any research, all you have to do is talk to parents of both the Renegades and GTAA, they will tell you all you need to know about Landicini.

To everyone: GallowayTwpNews.com will be more than happy to speak to any of the parents / coaches who are willing to come forward and discuss same with the Publisher. You can contact the Publisher at gallowaytwpnews@gmail.com

There has been several allegations on both sides of the aisle. There is also additional comments that have not been published because of the content. To those individuals, you are more than welcome to also email the Publisher to further discuss those issues.

GallowayTwpNews.com is committed in helping the community address concerns and make public those issues that would otherwise be overlooked by other news organizations. But the public has to start the open channel on this issue, only for the fact that these sport organizations are private organizations. As the Publisher, I will be more than happy to meet with the parents or group of parents and listen/discuss all concerns regarding these issues.

Thank you

Anonymous said...

I respect this publisher and the website. You put yourself out there to make a difference which is more than I can say for others. Keep up the good work.

Anonymous said...

How can they research it if it's a non punlic entity? The same way every other news organization does; through research and journalism! That is a reporter's job! I am sure the publisher will dig in and report it. You are an obvious political hack. Since you lack intelligence, cannot formulate a coherent thought and have nothing good to say, you resort to the typical DemocRAT playbook; personal destruction. Go back and crawl under the rock from where you slithered.

Publisher said...

Thanks for the sentiments. But you have been commenting throughout this article and I offer a chnace for you to come forward with concrete information in your allegations and your resort to attacks as I stay professional.

@anon August 29, 4:16. Ask witnesses down the first base line? Obviously you were not at that game because there was not one credible witness along that base line, let alone anybody that actually saw it. Those witnesses are Joe's posse; the group that screams and yells at coaches and players. I have seen it every time we played them! During that particular game, on the first base line closest to home plate it was Joe's family (including his wife who went on the field), another guy who always hangs out with them, and another woman who was sitting with Joe's wife. Also on the first base line was a guy who was inciting one of Joe's coaches. I later found out that guy was physical with one of Joe's coach's wives!!! So, tell me, who out of those cast of characters down the first base line would ever make a credible witness? Joe's posse? No. The guy who bumps a woman? No. Who else??? Nobody.
I also heard this guy has already cost GTAA a lot of money in legal fees. That means every parent will be paying more for registration fees for EVERY sport their child plays. That's right, an increase. If Joe continues this waste of time against the GTAA, who knows how much the registration fees will increase...$20 per child.. $50 per child...who knows? Perhaps it's time for the publisher to attend a GTAA meeting and review the budget. I am certain the publisher would be sickened. This guy is making it worse for himself and I, along with many other parents, have had enough of this guy.
He is obviously is trying to ruin Frank and his family. From what I saw that day, Frank was trying to keep peace and was trying to leave the field before one of the posse members started raising his voice at him!! Now, Joe is ruining the families who participate in GTAA, especially the kids!. This guy needs to go now, or at a minimum end this farce for the KIDS sake. How about the KIDS Joe?? Your mouth says one thing but your actions show another. Pathetic.

Anonymous said...

I was there that day and witnessed the entire thing. Joe's wife ran out on the field like a lunatic, yelling at the other teams coach. Joe fought with every coach that day. Frank absolutely DID NOT touch Joe Landicini. Joe is deliberately out to hurt Frank and his family, including his kids because of his bruised ego. He does not care about the kids whatsoever. It's sickening and quite disturbing. This is a pattern with Stacey and Joe. They did the same thing with the Renegades. I'm hearing that registration may go up because of him and his wife? Way to go Joe! It's funny because Joe is probably sitting back and saying "I'm bringing Frank down." This will backfire on you Joe. If you want to bring Frank down and hurt his boys then you will be gaining a lot of enemies. Furthermore, you will be hurting your own kids by not being able to coach them again...so sad...

Stop using "Anonymous" Frank!

Anonymous said...

It seems that no matter the subject, someone has a comment about Mayor Purdy. The remark about his wife is particularly disturbing. Considering how negative these comments always are, maybe the poster(s) should "just leave."

Anonymous said...

Why are you so bothered at comments of Don Purdy unless your Don Purdy or a member of his elite inner group. People talk about Don Purdy because he's the reason the Township is so screwed up. He hired his own people to do his dirty work. How many towns do you see where they hire the Mayors personal attorney to do his own bidding in vengeance? Where do you see a mayor attacking employees and encouraging illegal acts on the web? Where do you see a Mayor being investigated from so many agencies its impossible to count? If you can tell me reason why Don Purdy should be reelected then defend him on here without attacking others. I bet you can't do it.

Anonymous said...

The point with the Purdy comments is that he has absolutely nothing to do with this story. No matter what the topic, someone makes it about Purdy. Maybe the comments can relate to the story? Clearly shows someone has an agenda.

Anonymous said...

I only speak for myself but Don Purdy has everything to do with the story. This is his guy, his buddy that is facing a court date on assault charges. There is nothing that Don Purdy touches that is good. I only speak for myself about Frank Gargione but everytime I comment the Publisher hasn't released them. I can't blame the Publisher because they are more for information than for public viewing. Do you think Frank Gargione or Don Purdy should be elected to represent us?

Anonymous said...

If you speak for yourself then speak, drop the anonymous profile and say it. Comments such as yours and the accusations you are insinuating may hold more credibility if you say it with a name behind it. But I doubt you will. Pretty obvious who this is but you may wanna make sure your past is clean before throwing empty accusations at people.

Anonymous said...

I'd rather Frank and Don represent us than Keith Hartman.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you on Keith Hartman. I wouldn't want him representing us either. He never showed up. But I also believe that Don Purdy is not the answer. You have not once said why Don Purdy or Frank gargione should be elected. We can agree to disagree but at least say why you support those two. My guess is you are either Don Purdy himself or his wife posting here. So be it, your entitled to your opinion as am I. And my past is clean not like Dons or Franks or even the publisher on this site. I know what Don has done. Many of us do. I also know he will have to answer for his alleged illegal acts very shortly. For that I feel bad for his family because I believe if Don would have maintained a straight and narrow, he wouldn't be in the position he's in or he wouldn't have put his family or Township on a bad position because of his actions. If you are who I think you are, then you know I am right.

Anonymous said...

To anonymous @ 1:47 & 2:57. The only one I see here attacking others as you stated is you. You have no problem stating other people's names in your comments, why don't you state your name for all to see?
Maybe the Publisher won't release some of your comments because they contain unfounded "attacks" or they need to be cleaned up in order to be released.

The Publisher is a woman anonymous at 3:14 in the morning. In my opinion, she's the only woman with balls to stand up to these guys and report their wrong doings. have you seen reporting in other newspapers like the Press or Current? NO!!! Galloway Patriot had a centerfold of the ONEGALLOWAY team with false advertisement. Tell me which of those people have STRONG VALUES. The answer is NONE. Why don't you get off your a...and tell the publisher what you know about that day or about Frank Gargione. You probably can't either. You come on here blaming everyone else for your problems but not enough guts to tell about others.

Anonymous said...

So if there is a day in court for Frank to defend himself, tell her, the Publisher, to have her a** in court and see what really happened that day!and if she has so much "balls", let her be the first to publish her name! I have no problem talking with her, but only a face to face conversation. But she would probably not agree to that.

Ladies and gentlemen, this will be handled quite quickly at trial. Remember, there are two charges here, one against Frank, but there is one against Joe too. That is the what most of the commenters are forgetting. Joe has an assault charge against him too. Once the prosecutor and judge hear from the number of witnesses Frank has, it will be over. Joe will face the criminal charges, have a criminal record and never coach again. No doubt those charges will affect his business too.

Well Well Well Anonymous spoken at 11:55AM. YES, I believe the Don Purdy had someone do something on his behalf just like another story on here says. I do not doubt anything this website has said. When you come out from lurking behind Don Purdy's coat tails then I will reveal myself. Until then you can pound as much sound or pavement your little feet can handle because that coat tail of Don Purdy is getting smaller and smaller by the minute. Just wait, you will see, I have no DOUBT that it will all be REVEALED and EXPOSED. Do you also not see how naive your comment sounds for defending the one man in Galloway Township that has done nothing but ruin it, in my opinion of course. I wouldn't want the Publisher to pick up my tab for my opinions as well versed as they may be. Keeping candidates families out of the picture and public eye is merely impossible, especially when you have the Mayor of Galloway Township taking their family or wife to fundraisers and plastering their picture all over their advertisements on facebook. They enter their family in the race themselves. I feel I have a right to criticize all of them. And I don't think your Don Purdy, because he would have needed help writing down a coherent sentence. Anonymous 102

Anonymous said...

Seems like those defending the Purdy master are defending a lost cause. It is interesting that those named defenders of Frankie are no longer here defending him. I guess those friendships are gone. Hahahaha

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Chief Moran and Mayor Purdy are going to Bike week in Wildwood this coming week. I heard they like Bike Weeks.

Anonymous said...

The courts will decide who is right and who is wrong, but for those of us that were there, know who the wrong was. I like Frank, but I have had personal contact with him and know when his buttons are pushed he's can get a little hot headed. I think thats what happened here. Two adults couldn't contain themselves and now both must face the consequences.

Anonymous said...

Let me be absolutely clear: I'm not "lurking" behind Mayor Purdy's coat tails and I'm not "defending" him. Stating on an open forum that a candidate's wife is "cute" is childish and demeaning, much like your 'coherent sentence' remark illustrates. Since you believe that you "have a right to criticize" everyone in a candidate's family, will you be going after children next? Perhaps the family pet? I never asked you to reveal yourself, and, quite frankly, I don't care if you ever do. Your 'offer' only serves to inflate your own self-worth. My only concern was to see appropriate comments on the appropriate subject. I've noticed that after my post, one comment was removed and another modified, which shows that not only can't some people stay on point, they refuse to comport themselves civilly or even abide by simple rules. Anonymous001

I get it. Seems someone is upset Hartman wasn't put on the ballot.

Many have road on the Purdy coat tails. It's a pleasure to see some remove themselves from the likes of Purdy because they do not want to be associated with him anymore. It only shows in my own observation that he tears people's reputations down. The leader of our town should be building it up not tearing it down.

Anonymous said...

He's not lurking in the shadows, that's Tony Coppola Speaking for Don Purdy. Tony should remember me because we used to go drinking at Gournet when had free time away from his family. The good days!!

Anonymous said...

I would like to emphasize the word free. How's the motorcycle Tony?

Anonymous said...

I'm not Tony Coppola. I'm not a Republican. I'm not an elected official. I'm not running for office. However, it sure seems that my original observation was correct: You make 'offers' solely to inflate your own self-worth. Now, you've resorted to dropping names and posting personal tidbits for the same reason. What's next - a little gossip from your weekend at Frank LoBiondo's house? (No offense, Congressman. I'm just trying to illustrate a point.) The rest of the remarks since my last comment are gibberish. I'm done. Anonymous001

Anonymous said...

How do you know its a personal tidbit unless you are Tony and you know what I am talking about. I don't have a need to rub shoulders with the likes of those politicians like Don Purdy does with going to the Governors Mansion and posting the likes of it on facebook like its a big deal his buddy got him in. I have no reason to inflate my self-worth as you articulate it to be. The moral of the story is, those elected officials sitting up there need to understand the definition of a glass house. Thats called politics and thats how, in my opinion observation, Coppola and Purdy like to play it. That kind of politics and politicians are not needed or cared for in Galloway.

Anonymous said...

There are other reasons not to vote for Frank Gargione.

I mean....if both of these guys were running for an elected office I wouldn't vote for either of them BUT Frank has an edge of no vote confidence from me based on his role on the zoning board and his support to change the zoning for the Blue Heron Pines project.

The impact this is going to have on the community and school district will be negative, be it from simple things like more traffic, congested schools and everything in between.

Galloway already used their get out of jail free "poor housing and implementation" card with the disaster area off of Collins Rd.

Why risk this again? There are other plans that could be implemented. Who cares of Ole Hansen had to go back to the drawing board and put together a new scope for the project. We know Frank cared based on the outcome. So this one is a no brainer eh.
